Presidents week-switching resorts at 7 mos?

I booked at our home resort, VWL for Presidents week next February. We are really hoping to switch over to BLT or AKV at the 7-month mark. I asked the CM I spoke to at Member services and she said it was doubtful we would get BLT, that my chances for AKV Kidani were much better. Is BLT really that difficult to get into? I thought that because of the higher points needed maybe a lot of people shy away from it.

You really never know about availability until you try to reserve. If you call right at 7 months, I think it is entirely possible that you could get BLT Lake View. Standard view and MK view rooms make up only a small portion of the resort and those do tend to sell out well before the 7 month window opens. I do not think you have a very good chance of getting either of those categories, but it could happen. FWIW, AKV is larger than BLT and the CM probably saw that there is still availability now for President's Week at AKV and that is why she said that AKV was your best chance.

Even if you switch to AKV at 7 months, don't be afraid to waitlist for BLT if that is your first choice. Since you have a back up reservation, you have nothing to lose. Keep in mind that BLT is still being sold. The developer will have to add more inventory to keep up with the sales. When that happens, many waitlists clear. Yours might be among them.
