Hi all. Just got back from my first trip to Disney World, which was amazing. But I have a question, not sure if it's in the right place though. My sons 3rd birthday falls on Mardi Gras this coming year, March 4, 2014, and my DH and I are wanting to take him back to Disney to celebrate his birthday. The only problem is, I've heard that the week of Mardi Gras is always busy due to some schools being out. So we were thinking of going the week before, February 23-March 1. Does anyone know how the crowds are this week being that it's the week that falls right between Presidents Day week and Mardi Gras? Thanks in advanced! :)

I know the Princess Half Marathon is on the 23rd, so it's likely to be pretty busy that day, but people there for that event will probably thin out after Sunday. I'd probably wait to get there until Monday if you can - you may find better hotel availability then.

Schools in New England often have off a week in February, sometimes Presidents Day week, other times it's the next week, so it probably won't be empty, but it shouldn't be slammed, either.

We were there last year for the week of Mardi gras and we enjoyed every minute of it !!!! We didn't find the crowds too heavy . Never waited more than 15-20 minutes for a ride and everyone was so nice !! We are considering going again this year for Mardi gras because we had such a wonderful experience. Don't let us southerners scare you off !
