For those who use these cards from the U.S., were you charged an extra $0.05/min for a total of 9.3 cents/min? I was reading the card at the store and that's what it says, so just double checking.

If I was to use this card, do I have to call from the same phone number all the time or can I call from home one time and another time be calling from the U.S?

Most of our calls are long distance, so I am looking at the cheapest way to make these calls.

We bought one last month for our trip to Florida and we loved it! No you don't pay any extra charges when calling from the US. And yes you can use the card even when you get home from your home phone too. You just have to call the number on the back of your card each time, and then wait for the instructions. I still have time left on ours and I use it from home now too. Also be aware that the time expires 6 months from your first use but you can buy another card and have the remaining minutes from your previous card transferred over to your new one. We're really pleased with it and will continue to buy them. :thumbsup2 :sunny:I even called my cousin in the UK from Florida to wish her a Happy B-day and it was only 4.9 cents a min! Here's the info about the "service charge":
"4. Is there a charge to use the PC prepaid long distance card from the U.S.?
No. You may notice the back of your card says “Additional 5¢ per minute applies when calls originate from the U.S.”. We are pleased to announce that we have negotiated the removal of this surcharge with our network supplier so now your card has no additional or hidden fees."

You can check out the website here:http://www.presidentschoice.ca/PCTelecom/Default.aspx

Most phone cards have a surcharge for each call, typically 50 cents to 1.50 or the equivalent in minutes, when you make the call from a pay phone. This is regardless of in what country you bought the card or used the card but the amount can vary for each country.

In a few locations such as hospitals you may find phones with "free local calls" in which case there is usually no surcharge on your phone card usage.

seashoreCM - As already stated, the PC card is one of the few if the only card that does not charge a payphone surcharge. This card is the best!!!

I was given about 6 of those cards that have 20 minutes on each card when I bought my cellphone at fortinos I plan on using them in Disney. WAY better than what Disney charges to use their phone. 2 one minute calls to canada $18.75!!!!
Boy was I mad! I am well prepared this time!

We use them now for long distance calling in our home. Bell charges 10 cents per minute under their First Rate plan, so I finally got rid of another Bell nuisance and cancelled. This card is great!

Another PC Card boosters here !
I got a $10 card and after making a reasonable length call to both Canada and UK I was amazed to hear that I had $9-10 left !

Yes I think they actually made the rates on these cards to be much cheaper than most home phone long distance providers and I think I may keep using the cards at home too. We're really pleased with it so far. :thumbsup2

Here is a tip from a PC Phone Card fan...

Create an account at:

You can then enter your home phone number as an "Auto PIN" Feature. That way, you don't have to enter your PIN every time if you're using the card from home. However, you have to call a different toll-free number to use this feature: 1-866-473-5841.

Also, if you register for the "auto-top up" your card will automatically be refilled when it reaches a certain threshhold, set by you. Or, you can manually add money to the card.

The expiry date changes to six months from the time you refresh your card.!

Good tip tfolk - Auto top up works well for on vacation as you will never run out of cards. We like to auto top up online, so we'll never be without minutes. We also use this as a our home long distance card which means no more Bell Network charge of $2.95 per month, which goes up to $4.50 per month in April. So, cancel those home plans folks (just remember to always use your card as the phone charges will be outrageous!). In all actuality though, Bell is affilitated with these cards so they are getting their money anyway - LOL!!

Thanks for the information about the Auto-pin and auto top up.

Dh and I just calculated that it cost us 7 cents/min for our phone calls plus the extra $2.00/month.
Dh also said "but now we're also going to have to use a pin # every time" but I can tell him otherwise.

But we both agreed the savings would be worth having to dial a few extra numbers.

Just a clarification: For those of you with Bell First Rate or other long distance plans, you have to pay a monthly fee PLUS network charge of between $2.95 (Bell - it's going up as I mentinoned) and Sprint ($4.00+) per month. If you cancel your home plan, you will drop 2 monthly fees, plus have cheaper rates - win, win situation all around!!

But if you create an account like this and use it from home.... that I understand ...
but how about if I take this same card to WDW... can I continue to use it ??

TIA

Yup, no problem. I've done it myself. You just have dial the number on the back of the card and enter your PIN.
