Ok, both me and DH both wear perscription glasses to see. I'm the neurotic one, who always takes them off for every coaster I am on, in the just in case scenario...

We both cant wear contacts.

DH cant see at all without them. He says he would be fine to do the ride, ie, see enough to get in line, put the belt on, etc, but its no fun if you are bumbling around.

OK, who wears glasses, and have ridden on these coaster? I'm specifically looking into DD and Hulk. DH has worn his glasses on RNR at MGM no problem.

I just have this nagging feeling that I would lose them, be out of glasses, cant see, and look like Mr. Magoo the rest of the trip...

Well DH is now clean shaven on top, so he would be Mr. Magoo, but that another story....

Anyway, thanks for all the input. This is our first trip to USF/IOA and we are excited!

I wear prescription glasses and had them on for every ride on the Hulk and DD (I lost my pink Rosie cap though). I made sure they fit snuggly but I never felt as if I would lose them. I did have trouble with Dr. Doom. I actually took them off for a ride on Dr. Doom and instead of putting them in my purse I hooked them around the collar of my shirt below my chin. This was a big mistake as they came flying off on the shot up. I think I would have been better off wearing them. I would say be careful but you should be safe on the coasters.

Thanks, we have done a Doom tower, look alike here in Pa, and the glasses were fine then.

I'm just concerned about going upside down, and losing our glasses and bumbling around, going to a vision place, buying glasses on vacation, etc. etc. etc.

Thanks that helps a lot...

After going several years riding big coasters at BGT and IOA, and never having a problem...I got some lightweight glasses last year, and one day when I was at IOA alone, I went on Fire Dragon. It was not raining at all when I got in, but they held up the train for 5 minutes, which was enough time for it to start raining, and it was POURING MERCILESSLY by the time we got to the top of the lift hill.

I lost my glasses halfway through the ride.

I now always either take off my glasses or get a strap for them. I'm trying to find a way to secure the strap to my shirt or something so I'll be guaranteed not to lose them!

Ds was ridding Hulk alone and almost lost his glasses. He had a cramp in his arm when he got off because of the position his arm was in holding them on. They started to come off in the first loop. All the other times I had remeinded him to put them in a pocket or in my pocketbook in a locker. This time he wasrideing alone and we both forgot about them.

I take NO chances when it comes to any coaster. Although, I can't really see all the sights that well on a coaster, it goes too fast to see things anyway. My drivers license requires me to have corrective lenses, I absouletly can't drive without them. I'll crash into a tree or something! There is always my contacts, but I'm too lazy to wear them.

Personally, I highly discourage the wearing of glasses, sungalsses and having other loose items on the Globe coasters. (Universal) I saw someone lose his/her wallet and shades on the netting of the Hulk coaster. Not a pretty site to see!

I wear prescription glasses & sunglasses. I know I look like a nerd with my solution to this problem but I put both of them on sports straps. When I'm inside the sunglasses hang around my neck, vice versa for outside. I don't have to worry about losing them and I don't spend half the day digging in a fanny pack switching glasses!

In fact - if you'll look at my picture below - you'll see the sunglasses hanging and the regular on my face!

Aloha,
I wear a head strap when I go on coasters and (after DH almost knocked them off me when he threw up his arms on Journey to Atlantis) on all rides with drops like Jurassic Park. I put it on while I am in line for the ride and take it off when it is over. It is small and fits in my wallet. Better safe than sorry. I am totally blind without my glasses.

However, even though I had my glasses on the Hulk, I couldn't see. Oh that is right, I had my eyes shut! :smooth:
