prescription meds

I've ordered from Canada as well as other countries. Frankly Canada isn't that much of a savings if you have any kind of insurance at all... For me I get the most savings by ordering from India. They don't have every drug available but the government sets the prices that they can sell them for and blood pressure medicine that would cost me over a hundred a month without insurance or $40 a month with insurance is less than $10 for a months supply.... Now the one thing you have to realize is that shipping isn't cheap. I make sure I order at least 3 months worth at a time.... also if you have more than one medicine you need it will make it more effective because you are spreading the shipping cost over more items. In general it costs me about $40 for shipping and that is for a 3 months supply of 5 different meds that various people in my family take.... The last time it cost me just over $200 for everything including shipping... if I had used my insurance and bought it local it would have cost more than that for just 2 of the medicines for 3 months....

You can also factor in the fact that you can avoid a doctor visit by ordering overseas... For me I get at least 1 sinus infection every year if not more... I know what the doctor will prescribe, but I see no point in paying him $30 dollars to call in a prescription so I just keep some of the stuff to treat it on hand and if I know I need it I take it.

Also, it is my understanding that the DEA doesn't bother with medical shipments as long as you aren't getting more than a 3 month supply and aren't ordering class three drugs like Oxy or methadone...

I use alldaychemist.com... others might not feel its very safe using drugs from India, but frankly they have good government oversight of the drug manufacturing there and penalties for adulterating medicine can be very harsh, so I see it as being as safe as buying it from a local drug store.

If it is a prescription you use on a daily basis you might check into Medco. https://host1.medcohealth.com/consumer/site/home

It is a mail order prescription company which charges about a 1/3 of the usual pharmacy prescription cost.

I used to love Medco. Then I got a new prescription for my thyroid medicine. I didn't feel like writing out the form yet again so I took it to my local grocery store. I will save $96 each year at the local store. Medco was a rip-off.

As for ordering from Canada, no, and I never will. My husband used to be a DEA agent over seeing legal pharmaceuticals. He told me about the stuff that can (not guaranteed) from Canada since their regulations are a lot different than ours.

Some local stores offer some generic medications very cheaply at prices below what Medco by Mail may offer. It pays to compare prices from different sources. My prescriptions are not available through those programs so I use Medco by Mail exclusively for 90 days' worth at a time, as specified by my insurance, and save money over what the local pharmicies charge for my prescriptions.

It all depends on what medication you're needing. I would call around to US companies such as Medco, but also don't leave your your local grocery store, warehouse club or walmart. They have many generics for only $4 a month.

I would strongly caution against ordering out of the country, although if you must Canada might be the safest choice, but I would wonder if you would save that much once shipping is figured in. I would stay far away from Mexico, India and any other country that would allow you to self diagnose by the means of Dr. Google.

Personally I'd like to thank those that decide what kind of infection they have, that it is really an infection that requires antibiotics and then decides after hours of Web MD what antibiotic would be best. This among other things has helped create these "super" bugs that are resistant to the more mild antibiotics. :thumbsup2

I know that's probably not what you were asking, but just in case, please spend the $40 at Walgreens for the nurse there to decide if you even need an antibiotic. You don't have to fill the script there if you get one, they don't have $4 generics. You can ask for a printed script and take it to the pharmacy of your choice.

That's exactly whom I use as well. The $268 "not covered" Symbicort is $8.

I even get my Ibuprofen, and Zyrtec from them - because it's so much cheaper.

The pharmaceutical companies the drugs come from (CIPLA & SUN) are both recognized by *our* FDA, as well as the World Health org.

I love alldaychemist.com.

P.S. - They also have a generic "Latisse" called Careprost - and it's $10 (versus the $120 I was spending on Latisse) a bottle. My lashes are superb! ;)
