Are there any pharmacies that will deliver prescriptions to the Beach Club Villas? We will need a prescription refilled mid vacation and won't have a car. Insurance won't allow us to get it filled a couple of days early.:sad2:
Thanks,
Tina

Have you checked with your insurance company and let them know you will be out of town. Many insurance companies, including mine which is EScripts allows early renewal if the pharmacist filling the script lets them know you will be traveling and gives them the dates. I have done this several times.

3 years ago, I realized I had forgotten my son's rx. I called the front desk and they gave me a pharmacy number that delivered. I called his Pediatrician, and they called in a few days worth. The meds were delivered and the bill was added to the hotel bill. It was all very easy.

The pharmacy that delivers to the resort is very easy but when we used it a few years ago they would not bill insurance. They gave us a receipt and we would have had to file it ourselves. (It was only $10 so we didn't bother).

There is a delivery fee for using the pharmacy, too. I think it was $6-8 a couple of years ago when we had to use it. Well worth it, though, since we didn't have to hassle with trying to get to a pharmacy. They just charge your room for the meds & the delivery fee and leave your stuff at the front desk for pick up at your convenience.

Thanks for all the info everyone. Turners is the one that delivers and unfortunatly they dont accept insurance. We use CVS @home. Our script is several hundred dollars so I guess we will just try to get to the local CVS.

I would also like to recommend this. I am a retail pharmacist and most insurance companies will authorize a vacation supply if the pharmacist calls for an over-ride.

I understand what you are saying my insurance replied that there was a pharmacy in the Orlando area so I could get it there. However, I found they would refill the prescription exactly 7 days before the pills ran out and was able to fill my prescription at home before I left for WDW.

I would call your local CVS and explain that you will not have transportation to go to the local CVS near WDW so is there any way you could fill the prescription before you leave home. And if it doesn't work through the local CVS, I'd call your insurance company direct.

Good Luck.

What would happen if you were on a cruise or out of the country? :confused3

I've been in this situation when I went to Turkmenistan (find that on a map!!!) and called the insurance company and they authroized early re-fill.

You may also have an issue filling some prescriptions if you are out of state. We tried to fill a prescription for my DH in HI, same pharmacy as at home, but they could not fill it because it was a narcotic and HI law requried that the prescritpion be written by a HI doctor. So, we alsway make sure we have our prescriptiosn filled before we travel. -- Suzanne

Althoughthey don't deliver, there are CVS pharmacies in hte area. I know thre is one by the Marriott Orlando World Center.

Call your own pharmacy at least 10 days before you are leaving. As long as it is not a controlled substance, they will be able to tell you exactly when the insurance will pay for the rx. Allow two extra business days before you have to leave in case something unexpected happens. If the rx can't be filled in time for your trip, ask the pharmacy to get a vacation override for you. They will have to call your insurance company. With enough notice any decent pharmacy will do this. It does help if you also call the insurance company using the phone number on your rx insurance card.

As with any request from any pharmacy if the staff person at the pharmacy is not helpful or doesn't understand your request, ask to speak to the pharmacist.

Make sure you get the name and extension number of everyone at the insurance company and the name of the staff person at the pharmacy as well as the time and date of your call.

The most important thing is not to wait until the last minute.
PM me if you have any questions.

Have a great trip.
