DD turns 2 this month and we can bring party bags for the kids in her daycare class. Here's my question, what do you put in them? Homemade goodies are out as they are not allowed. We are considering play-doh but don't know what else. We don't want to spend a fortune on them, just a couple of items as there are 15 kids in her class.

Thanks.

We did play-doh with cookie cutters for my DS3 bday. I bought a value pack of about 50 different shapes from Target in the playdoh section for about $10-12. I had to make 18 favor bags and it came out to less than $2 per favor. I also was to find Mini play doh containers at Costco. (50 of them for $10). I then added a package of fruit snacks. (My DS theme was curious george and our local grocery has Curious george fruit snacks.) The snacks usually come in 8 to 10 per pack.

LOL, it just shows how everyone is different! When I saw the title of your thread I came on to tell you please not to send play-doh. My kids knew that it was always to be thrown away because we had carpeting throughout our house and it was a mess to deal with!

Another thing not to send are balloons because of all the latex allergies.

We would always just send a prepackaged treat and depending on the ages of the kids pencils, puzzles books, colored pens, card games.

Another thing that always got thrown away were those little plastic things like you get from the oriental trading company.

We just had DS's second birthday party this weekend. Here's what I put in the goodie bags:

mini PlayDoh
snack size bag of animal crackers
mini bubble bottle (Target had them about 20 for $4 I think)
animal fork and spoon (made by Dixie-they were at Dollar Tree awhile ago)
8 pk of Nemo crayons (4 packs for a dollar at Dollar Tree)

I knew most of the kids already played with PlayDoh, so I wasn't worried about putting that in.

Watch package labels for under 3 warnings. Most small treat bag items are too small for 2's. I like the play dough idea and fruit snacks. I would avoid most other foods due to choking or allergies. Sometimes the dollar store has the small disney figures made for toddlers in pooh shapes. Perhaps fun shaped bath soap or bubbles & a fun wash cloth to go with it. I would staple or seal the bags and most classes send the bags home and allow the parent to decide what is ok for their child. Another idea is to not use the bag and instead get each child a large rubber ball and put his or her name on it or give each child a sand bucket or other plastic type container with a few cheep sand toys for spring. Large sand chalk is fun too.

Check with your local McDonald's or Wendy's...
For Valentine's Day, our local fast food places sell little booklets for $1 that has 10 coupons in them. Wendy's are for a free jr. frosty and the McD's ones are for either a free small fry or a small drink. It's quite a bargain, I would spend $3 and get 30 coupons to attach to my kids' Valentine's that they would pass out at school.
This would be a nice little extra to add to your bags...:goodvibes

Now that the kids are older, I still buy them and we use them for when we want a quick treat!
