... My name is The Legend.
... And I'm a pre-payer.
Like everyone else I enjoy the peace and mind of having the bills paid but I also have another reason ... Exchange rate ... In New Zealand and Australia, we are unfortunate enough to be paying $2 NZD to every $1 USD. Monitoring the exchange rate 6 months or more is very important to most foreign travellers as fluctations of 0.005 cents can save or cost us up to $300 on a WDW trip. I like to pay in advance by drip feeding my payments to coincide with high exchanges rates (remember a $5-10 USD saving is actually saving me $10-20 local currency)
The other reason I like to pre-pay is to lessen the amount of cash and travellers checques we must bring with us. Yes, we can use our debit and credit cards in the US and withdraw money from our New Zealand Bank accounts but again we are at the mercy the current days exchange rate and coversion. However like above, there are gains to be had if handled properly.
Pre-paying means we have paid American bills in American Money at a time most advantagous to me. It also makes it safer for me due to the fact that I carry less cash and travellers cheques. And there is the peace of mind that the holiday will proceed even if I lost my wallet (which I did in LA July 2000 however still made it ti WDW for 2 weeks without it, fourtunately for me I kept cash and travellers cheques in a seperate secure bag with my passport)
This years 11 night WDW/IOA/USF visit and 5 day DLR/KBF/SFMM, I am doing pretty much the same thing.
