Prepaying for DDP when staying on DVC Points?

I am not a member of DVC, but we have rented points from members on many occasions. In the past we had to pay for the DDP when we checked in. Has that policy changed? The member that I am renting from for our upcoming trip just told me that DVC's new policy is that the DDP must be paid in advance when you reserve it. Can anyone confirm this for me? I have rented from this particular member several times before and have never had any problems with them so I have no reason not to believe them. I just thought I'd ask here since I'd never heard of this change before. I already have a copy of our DVC reservation, but now we've decided to add the DDP. Would DVC revise our reservation to show the DDP is paid and give us (our DVC member) a new copy? Thanks!

Yes, the dining plans must now be paid for when added to a DVC reservation. This change went into effect in Oct 2010. We don't do the dining plans so I don't know how or if anything is noted on the confirmation.

Yes, DDP now needs to be paid in full as soon as it's added to the reservation. Another new change (only if you're using DVC points for your stay) is that different dining plans can be added for different days. So if you wanted DDP for the first half of your stay and DxDP for the second half, that can be done when using DVC points for the reservation. I think there would need to be multiple, linked reservations but this is a very cool new perk, IMHO!

I'm renting points for a stay this summer and was informed the same thing, I must pay for the DDP when I add it to my stay!

And it is strictly up to the owner whether or not they will do this for their rentals. Some do and some don't. And many will not go thru the hassle of segmenting a ressie for a partial dining plan.

Yes, your new confirmation will show that the DDP is listed and paid for. I've added the DDP several times (just a day or two) to my January and May reservations and both times I was sent a new confirmation showing I paid for it.

This sounds like a possitive thing but from my experience multiple reervations might also require that you change rooms. Am I correct? Thank you for any information.

That is, of course, a possibility. But I had a split stay at CBR (1 nt room-only followed by a MYW package) last year and I didn't even have to check out/back in. A CM came by in the morning of our package "arrival" date to give us our new KTTW cards while we were still getting ready to hit the parks. It went seemlessly on our end.

I just added 6 days of dining plan to my reservation coming up and I asked her about whether I would have to switch rooms and she said she couldn't confirm that I wouldn't. Seems kind of wasteful to have someone leave and them having to clean a new room when your room type isn't changing.

We also rent points and the person we rented from called to find out how it would work. The answer he got is that your reservation will be segmented and you may have several reservation numbers but they will link the reservations so you don't need to change rooms. He was also told that different resorts computer systems handle it better than others. So, you may need to get new room keys between the segments or you may not.

Does anyone know where I can find the rates for the DDP? I was thinking of adding them for a few days but I don't know where to find the rates? TIA
