Preparing for Thursday... help

I didn’t do ToD so maybe this can be answered by someone who did: once you purchase your tickets, do you automatically get redirected to the reservation system, or do you have to start over in a reservation queue once your tickets are purchased? If it’s the latter, do you think you can be in the queue for both ticket purchase and reservation at the same time on the same account?

ToD was handled differently than this will be. There was no reservation system for ToD - you purchased a ticket for the day you were going. For DLR, you have to purchase a ticket in order to even make a reservation. They are separate. I hope there aren’t separate queues to purchase tickets and then make reservations...

Mathematically, they shouldn't need to queue both. If they pace ticket sales, that would also pace park reservations at the same rate, since only people with tickets can book park reservations.

(I think they might be able to use one queue simultaneously for both, too.)

That’s what I am hoping for... I wish they would give instructions on how the system is going to work ahead of time!

Anybody want to give those "not so tech savvy" :lovestruc help on how to better our chances on Wednesday.

Specifically the opening of more than one window? Were you logged in to your Disney account in each window.

Those who used that app were you are on your home wifi or your data?

Does our wifi matter?

What is the pre-que que and how do I know if I'm in there?

How many minutes did they give you to complete your reservations?

Any wisdom you could help me with I would be very grateful. I am trying to get tickets to go for my birthday or surprise my husband for his birthday the following week. :)
At about 7:30am I had 3 windows open in this order: Computer, iPad, Cell phone. All three had different queue numbers. At a couple minutes after 8:00am, all three said "more than an hour." But in a few minutes, my cell phone (last one to load the page) was the only one to change the wait time. It said 7 minutes, and it was real time from that point. I then closed the computer page and my iPad. Once my time came up it took me to the web site, and I was prompted to login even though I had already been logged in on the app. (So make sure you have your password ready.) Then it took me to the page where I could select my date. It was actually very easy. I was done at 8:17am.

Good luck!

Or can you make a reservation then be directed to a ticket purchase. Seems they should combine the processes one way or another. Seems poor design not to.

Can someone walk me through the steps needed? My whole family (15) is trying to go together. The catch is everyone has different plans and we are hoping to overlap one day. I believe one brother is getting 3day park hoppers. We are getting 2day single park probably (maybe park hoppers) , my other brother is getting a 1 day park hopper and I don't know what my parents are doing yet. Probably 1 day.

Am I correct in assuming that the 10 possible tickets I can purchase at once all have to be the same type and same # of days? Therefore we all have to get our own, rather than trying to do it in only 2 groups?

Does everyone trying to get tickets need their own accounts? Or can people try to get on on the same account on different devices? (ie, my brother and sister in law both trying at their house, on different devices)

I'm not optimistic enough to say we will get through the queue at the same time. So any advice on how to coordinate? I'm doing all the research for the whole group and have to walk them through it! Help me help them! lol

I'll be the downer here - if I had any one piece of advice, I would very strongly suggest waiting until after the initial flood on Thursday. That way, the available days will be more clear, and it won't be so chaotic. All of you can work together at the same time to plan something.

If two of you tried the queue at the same time on Thursday - it might be hours apart that either of you could purchase anything. Whole days might be sold out that were available when the first one got in. We just don't know.

There's so much we don't know yet. Most of your questions really aren't answerable yet - we don't yet know how the system is going to work, and what they'll let you buy in one transaction.

Your best odds at getting everyone together at the same time would be to pick a pair of the Tier 2 ticket days (or Tier 3) on the Ticket Availability Calendar (scroll down on that page) - those days will be less likely to fill up as quickly. But I'm betting they'll still be available after the initial rush.

We don't really have enough information to determine what the advantages and disadvantages of multiple devices or browsers will be.

For instance, will the ticketing or reservation system prevent one account from have two active connections to the systems? For instance, does the system recognize that your account already has an active connection to the reservation system? If so, does it return an error or just create a redundancy? Someone with a ticket currently could test this by attempting to start two reservation connections at the same time and report back how the system handles it.

As far as devices, we can say that the main potential disadvantage arises from competing for bandwidth. Since the connection backlog will likely come from Disney's side, this downside should be fairly minimal. Given the widespread reporting that the App has functioned better than the web, it seems like a no brainer to at least use a phone and a computer. You might see a benefit by disconnecting your phone from your home internet, but that's speculative.

As far as multiple browsers, currently you can log into your Disney account from multiple browsers simultaneously without causing an error. If this is also true for the ticket and reservation systems, then the main potential downside to multiple browsers is the stress it puts on your computer processor and your bandwidth. The main advantage of multiple browsers comes in when refreshing offers some benefit. Since refreshing has reportedly solved the Stitch ate the page errors, this is a potential advantage to consider.

Multiple refreshes may also help to grab reservations if the system gets close to capacity and cancellations start to become available. All the wording from Disney seems to indicate that they won't hold reservations for you as you attempt to process them. If they were holding reservations (similar to how ticketmaster holds tickets) while you filled in your information, then refreshing to compete for reservations as they get released becomes a huge deal.

All this said, my plan will likely include two browsers (firefox and chrome) on my main computer, access from the app on my iphone, and another browser window with a separate IP on a separate computer. The bottom line, is we don't have enough tech info to confidently say what should be optimal.
Thank you so much for taking the time to respond so thoroughly! : ) This is exactly what I was thinking about. I will open two browsers on three devices and see what that does plus our phones off wifi. I'm also going to pre log in like recommend I think that's a good game plan.

I'm wondering if it will be best to try and book a Hotel/Tickets online or over the phone.. think I will try both on Thursday morning and hope for the best.

My guess would be online only because their phones lines are clogged on a good day. But I think trying both is a great plan!

Please can I ask for some advice tomorrow as a CA resident.

Will be in the car and without WiFi! Great timing! It cannot be avoided. So just hoping for signal.

I have set up the app on my partner’s phone and will have both phones available for the queue. However unlike when previously booking WDW I can’t link the two accounts. Will I be able to link the two profiles or will it automatically link when I buy the two tickets tomorrow?
I really want to avoid having to try and get the same day for us separately which seems silly considering we’re from the same house.

Thanks so much in advance

Hopefully somebody else can give a more definitive answer, but I think you’ll have to buy both tickets in one account and start the process there. Then link both tickets manually to the second account and get the process going there.

If you’re each buying your own ticket, you’ll have to link the others ticket manually into your respective accounts and then try the reservation process.

The tickets will (should) link automatically into the account they were purchased in, but won’t automatically link to somebody else’s account.

Hopefully that answers your question.

Ok great thank you!
So should I realistically just purchase 2 tickets on whichever account lets me do it first and then open the tabs logged in under that account for the reservation purposes?

Then link them after everything is tied up?

That would be my suggestion. And then yes, after you have everything booked and confirmed, you can link the tickets into the other account.
