We leave in a few days and my 2 year old will be spending two long days in the nursery while Mama is off ship... I don't want to get into the "should you/shouldn't you" of it, the reason we are doing DCL is so that we can go into Berlin and St Petersburg without the peanut.

I'm just looking for thoughts and suggestions on how others have dealt with this separation and what kind of things you bring with you to the nursery. I plan to bring a diaper bag with her pacifiers and favorite stuffed animal, plus some snack foods in case she doesn't like what they have to eat. I've heard from others they'll feed her though what other kids eat in the big club, which she should be happy with (unless of course she's being a toddler).

My biggest worry is that she doesn't do daycare or preschool, but she is extremely friendly and loves strangers. I think by the end of the day she will be very very happy to see mama, but I don't think she (I hope) that she'll be sitting around crying for mama all day, not when there are kids and toys to play with.

I'm also writing up a little sheet about her, translations of some of her common words and that sort of thing.

I would say, if you can, put her in before those days. Even if just for an hour a couple of times. Just so she is a bit more used to the place, and knows you'll come back.

My 2 year old absolutely LOVED Emma in the nursery (if you see her please tell her James and family from Australia say hi ), and Veronica, Zoe and the others were great.

We didn't take anything else to the nursery - diapers, wipes, etc., his water bottle, and that was it. But my son doesn't have a favourite stuffed toy.

They have snacks like crackers and yoghurt as well as the food they serve for lunch and dinner.

There are less children on these cruises, so your daughter should get lots of attention! And I bet the St Petersburg day will have tons of kids in the nursery - that was the most popular day on our Baltics cruise.

Have an AWESOME time, wish we were there with you.

Go the first day onboard and visit, I believe it's open house for most of the afternoon.

We have two days I think before Berlin, so I do hope to drop her off a few times before that day.

Michelle glad to know you had a good time :) I'm hoping it will be a great trip for all of us... Shes so friendly, I think she will bond with the caretakers, but still miss mama a little. She loves other kids, so I'm just hoping overall she'll enjoy the experience :) I think she'd like preschool, but mama has trouble letting her go yet! She did just turn two.
