Prepaid Visa cards?

Actually it is a little different than 9,999:

The upper limit was $1500 if you order online or over the phone, but $9,999 if you purchase it in person through a participating AAA office. National City also has a different upper limit for the Travel Money card. They limit loads to $250-1,500 and a maximum card value of $5,000. I imagine that other financial institutions that carry this product will have even more differences.

Also, I believe the $850 weekly limit on the AAA Visa Travel Money card is for ATM usage, not purchases. Their Terms and Conditions don't say anything about purchase limits.

You may be correct about other institutions having different options but AAA lady told me that the $850 a week/ $350 a day thing is for atm, or purchases. Otherwise I would have gotten it.

I was planning to get pre-paid VISAs for a couple children as gifts in the near future -- I hadn't looked into the details yet, but it seemed like a good idea. Now that I've read about all these fees, I think it might not be the best plan. Thanks for educating me on this topic!
