Hi! Do the Disney resorts sell pre-paid SIMs for GSM phones? How much do they usually cost in the US?

My family and I are bringing in our mobile phones and figure that its alot cheaper to 2 pre-paid sims to be able call each other in case we get separated in the parks than using our normal ones on global roaming.

thanks!

I work for a cell company and I am unaware of any prepaid option that involves just a SIM.
You can purchase a prepaid service option from some carriers but it's a bit more involved. You'd likely have to pay an activation fee, purchase a SIM and then purchase airtime. Network compatibility can be an issue too.

What mhz does your current phone run on? Not all carriers us the same ones so you will have to be sure that you research this before hand.

Roaming with your current provider may wind up being just as cost effective depending on how much you plan on using your phone.

Hi , thanks for the info.

My phone runs on GSM 900/1800/199 networks and I think the US mostly uses 1900.

Over here, a sim pack costs as little as $2 and you just buy prepaid call cards from $5-10 each and you can buy these practically anywhere.

I guess the US is quite different from us then.
