I'm going back and forth about prepaying for the Photopass CD, can you give me yah or nah's on this and why. The idea seems good, but I want to make sure we will really use it if we pay all the $$$, it seems like alot of $$$$. But, then I think maybe I will enjoy the moments alittle more if someone else is taking some of the pictures. We will be traveling with a large group, so others would be getting pictures of us, but they don't want to order the cd, so we would just be paying for it. Thanks so much in advance for your imput.
Five more days and we will be on our way-yahoo!!!
Warmly, Erika

First off, if you prepay for it and decide when you get home from your trip that it wasn't worth the money you can get a refund.
Second, I've found that when I tell the photographers that I've already paid for the CD and asked them to take lots of candids, they do. Some will take lots of candids anyway (I'm thinking of character meet/greets here), but I've seen some just stand there waiting for the pose. But I speak up right before my kids get to the character and ask them to take several. So my point is, you can easily get more than just the standard posed pic in front of the castle.
And if you've already paid for the CD, you might be more likely to take the time and stop for pictures more often during your trip.
Just my 2 cents. We've done Photopass three times and have been pleased with our results.

I posted a poll about this exact subject recently and the overwhelming response was YES! Do it, its worth it.

I will be buying mine soon as well! :) Have a great trip.

We've done the pre-paid option for the past 2 trips, including the one we just took last month. We LOVE this option and definitely find it's worth the $$. Aside from all the photos you get taken, you can add a lot to the photos afterwards (special frames, etc.) -- so you can easily, say, have 50 photos taken and turn those into 100+ variations for your CD. And the more photos you have taken, the more chances are that you'll get some shots you really like.

One word of advice that I learned the hard way:
Almost every PhotoPass photographer will offer to take a picture for you with your camera (and if they don't offer, you can request it). I only did this once (handed the photographer my camera) because the photographer really insisted. I figured since I knew I was getting the CD I didn't need to bother. But -- one of the PhotoPass photographer's cameras wasn't functioning properly so none of those photos got onto my account. If I had just given the guy my camera as well, I'd have a back-up for that.

Newbie here. We are thinking that we would prepay for the photopass CD. When, how and where would we get the CD? I have heard that there are locations at the parks. Is it possible to get them at the resorts?

The morning of our departure we have a character meal planned. It would be nice to have pics from the breakfast included on our CD, but would it be too late for that?

Would they mail the CD to you after the fact or can you grab it at the resort on your way out? How much time to they need to burn the CD?

Thanks

If you get the right photographer you are 100% correct. We always pre purchase the photo CD and I tell every photopass CM that the CD is prepaid and to snap away. On two different occasions we had CMs go above and beyond. One occasion was for the Disney Visa Meet & Greet in Innovations West. That CM took almost 30 pictures of us as we interacted with the characters. The other occasion was in the World Showcase. We were waiting in line to meet Aladdin, Jasmin, and the Genie. As we approached rge front of the line they all went for a break. As we waited for them to return we told the CM that we had already prepaid for the CD. The CM then told us to follow him and he took us to 3 different spots (all within 10 feet of where we were standing) to get some great scenic shots with Spaceship Earth in the background. Then when the characters returned he must have taken another 15 shots of us with the crew. I think the CD is well worth the price.

You preorder the PhotoCD before you leave for your trip. When you return home you enter your Photopass card number on the Photopass site and you can see all the picture you have taken. You can then add boarders and make your edits. When you are done you can order your CD and it will be shipped to your house.

Regarding the character meals, most meals only have 1 Photopass photographer at them. When you first get to the meal you get a family photo that a CM takes, but thats it. As the characters visit the tables there is no photographer available. You are on your own.

While you are dining a CM will visit your table and give you the picture that was just taken. You usually get an 8x10 and a couple 5x7's if im not mistaken. On the side of the 8x10 there will be a Photopass # on the picture itself. You can enter that number in under your Photopass account online and that picture will be added to your Photo CD, but thats the only one. All other pictures from that character meal will be on your own camera.

I am going to MNSSHP and I know they give you a special photopass card for the party...can that be added to your CD? If not... can I ask the photopass photographer to use my park photopass card, or can they only use the MNSSHP photopass?

We did this in June (split with BIL and SIL's family, there at same time), and it worked wonderfully. Counting all the borders we added, we ended up with over 300 pictures. It's so nice to have control over the pictures and to be able to print up as many any you like and in whatever sizes you want, for pennies at Costco or on-line.

With regard to the MNSSHP photo pass, I would imagine (but don't know for a fact) that you can add that card number to your account, as the accounts do accept multiple card numbers. For example, we had one card and BIL's family had one card, and we were able to add both those cards to a single account, which is how we shared the CD.

You are correct, the Photopass site does accept multiple cards. You do not need a MNSSHP Photopass card though, you can just use the one you started with. The only difference is the physical card, they both do the exact same thing.

You can't get the prepaid CD at the parks. That's online with shipping only.

I think it depends on what you will be doing on your trip. Last time we did parks everyday and BBB with DD and it was worth it. This time we are only doing 3 park days so not really worth it.

I would definately pre order the CD. We really didn't research it much, so we didn't pre order it on our last trip, and had to pay an extra $35.00 after we got home. It is so worth the money...we loved our pictures. And wish we would have had more pictures taken. The pictures are very good quality and you can add extras before you have it sent to you. Once we ordered it, the CD was delivered in less than a week.

Yes ... we did this last year. At the camera shop in MK, they put ALL of our many Photopass cards together and got all of our pictures on one CD!

Don't forget to make copies of the pics online so you can have some just as they were taken and some with the cute/cool Disney borders and extras! :goodvibes

One thing, though, there is a special offer that you get with the MNSSHP (and, I think, the MVMCP, too) Photopass card they only hand out at the party that's only good with that actual card -- a discount on a print.

Even after you have all your PP cards combined, you can still get the discount if you "activate" the party card first. Then, you can update *all* of your PP pictures and order the CD (including everything that was on the party card).

You are absolutely correct! On the back of the MNSSHP Photopass card there is a discount offer for photo prints.

I wasn't aware that you can use it on any photo as long as you activate your MNSSHP card first, thanks! :thumbsup2

I would pre order it, as you can get a refund if you are not happy with your photos. Too bad no one else in your group wants to chip in as this is a great deal, they will probaly regret this when they see all the great pictures you get! We just spent 10 days in Disney and we had 245 pictures from photo pass, before any edits or borders added!! My advice is to make sure that when you see a photopass person to have your picture snapped right then and there, more often then not we would have a picture taken and when we walked by the same spot later that day no photo pass person. If you go to the waterparks they have some great photo ops, there was even a person in the lazy river snapping pictures. We love our pictures that we have from photopass, this is the third trip we have used it on and it is a must do for us.

Also make sure to ask for the magic shots they are not always offered to you.

Oops, I didn't mean to imply that you could get the party discount on ANY PP picture, it's *only* on the pics taken during the party. Sorry for the confusion....

You can still get the party discount (for the party pictures) if you activate that card first, but then you can still get *everything* on the CD, later.

But definitely bring your own camera, because while the photopass photographers are in a lot of places they aren't everywhere - such as at the resorts. Also some of the character meals don't have a photographer at all (Cape May doesn't) and our photos at Chef Mickey didn't have any characters in them at all, just us with a statue of Mickey, so make sure to bring your camera to the character meals.

Also, remember that photopass isn't just for characters, when you are getting your photopass photos taken in the scenic areas if there isn't a line make sure to ask for different groupings of family members. When we were at RNRC the photographer took separate photos of each of my kids - I forgot to ask for a group shot though - my fault she started to group us all together and I said oh can you take separate photos so she did.
