Does anyone know if you need your DDE card number in order to receive 20% off prepaid meals such as HDD and CRT?

I will not be purchasing my DDE card until a few weeks before my trip in September and I want to make these reservations soon.

Has anyone had experience with this?

Thanks,
Jennifer :lovestruc

I hope that someone has an answer as I was wondering the same thing. :goodvibes

I just booked CRT for dinner the other day and was told that they would be charging my credit card for the full amount and I could present the DDE card when I arrive at the podeum to check-in and they would credit back the 20%.

Note: They include tax and tip in the total amount.

We tried to use the DDE at lunch at CRT last fall, and were told that it was not accepted for the character meals.

This is directly from the AP webpage:

"Magic Kingdom® Park – The Crystal Palace, Cinderella's Royal Table, Liberty Tree Tavern, The Plaza Restaurant, Tony's Town Square Restaurant"

I should print this out now to take with me just in case they try to tell me they don't do the discount at CRT.

I made reservations for the Spirit of Aloha Dinner, and was told the same thing. I had to charge the complete cost of the meal. When we pick up our tickets I can present my DDE card and they will refund 20%.

I guess it's Disney's way of making sure you really have a DDE card. Someone might call and say they have a DDE card, but it would be expired by the time of their meal. Or someone may plan on getting a DDE card and call for a reservation, but decided against it. It really makes sense if you think about it.

When you call to book your ADR's you can always ask if you can use the DDE discount. When I was booking an ADR for Hollywood & Vine the CM told me I should get the Fantasmic package because it was the same price as the regular buffet. However, when she realized I had the DDE card, she told me that the Fantasmic packages are NOT eligible for the discount. Since I don't really care about the Fantasmic tickets and wanted a better time for dinner, I just booked the regular ADR so I could get the 20% off.

I read that as of Feb 1, 2006, Cinderella will no longer be circulating amongst diners but will be in the waiting area posing for pictures, the prices were jacked up ($10 for each meal/person. I don't know about you but $32 for breakfast is just insane and I'm not gonna pay it  ), the menu has been cut, you MUST pre-pay the entire meal when you make your reservation and it's now considered a "Signature Restaurant" and requires 2 TS credits. The BIG news for me (besides the outrageous increase in price) is CRT no longer accepts the DDE card....for ANY meals. How's that for 'magic'?! :wizard: Disney folks should be ashamed!

On a brighter side, you do get photos included with the purchase. And dinner includes a framed pics of the castle and an unframed lithograph. Those make it a little more worth it.

Are you sure that CRT no longer accepts the DDE discount? It was still listed on the website as of today. I may need to call them tomorrow to confirm and if I can't use the DDE discount I'll likely be cancelling my ressie and booking something at CA Grill or Citricos.

But when I booked my ressie I specifically asked about using the DDE discount and she told me to present the card at the podeum and they would refund the 20%.... :confused3
