I am hoping to pick up some baby clothes, bodysuits and hats for my cousins baby who was born early at just 27 weeks. We have managed to get a few items for babies who are 5lb but he weighs only 3lb.

We are at WDW at the moment, any ideas where I can get these items in Orlando? TIA :thumbsup2

The baby will most likely only wear diapers for the next few months while in the NICU. By the time the baby is released from the hospital, most newborn size clothes would probably work.

It is nice of you to think of them, anyway.

Preemie clothes are pretty hard to find. She was a month early, and still needed preemie clothes for about 3 weeks to a month. Best of luck finding something!

Hi
My dd was born at 28 weeks and weighed 2lbs 11 oz and is now a healthy 5yo who had her first visit to WDW in 10/08. Gap use to have a premmie line and Target had some items as well. I don't know if you have a car but the Babies R us and BuyBUY baby also carry premie clothes. I wouldn't buy to much, they grow out of the clothes so fast.Best of luck to your family,I will keep you in my thoughts.

Thanks for the replies.

The little man is still in NICU but the staff say he can wear a body suit and hat but they are really hard to find in Ireland. My cousin has ordered from a web site here in the USA but t will take 3 weeks to ship. She has so much to deal with especially with the baby coming early and she spends all day at the hospital. I though it would help if I could bring some items home for her next week :)

It is hard, just be there for her when she needs you... even if it's to pick up food for her, bring her to/from the hospital, or run a simple errand for her. It'll mean the world. :flower3:

So thoughtful of you to bring something back for the little guy!

Mother to two preemies. First was 2 lb. 11 oz. Second was exactly one pound more.

We found little outfits that looked like a long gown that went from neck to ankle with long sleeves. The brand is preemie-yums. They are made to be used in the hospital. We found them at a local baby store. It might be worth a call to baby stores in the area.

Good luck and prayers for the new little one.

Best selection of preemie clothes I've found is Walmart. My son was to term, just itty bitty at 6lbs and even newborn clothes swallowed him up.
If you have a Babies R Us nearby I've seen them there too, but more expensive.
Good luck!

carter's outlets!! I see em there all the time.

My dd was 4 lb at birth and wore preemie clothes for about a month and a half. LOL. Heck, at 2 yrs old she was still wearing 6-9 months LOL.

We bought the majority of her clothes at Babies R Us (there are 2 in Orlando - 1 on East Colonial and 1 on 436)

Carter's outlets often have some preemie clothes.

Our Walmart rarely has anything preemie and never anything cute (we are in St. Augustine). And I'm not sure that I've ever seen preemie anything at Target.

I got preemie clothes at Babies R Us, Walmart (we had a big selection around here but they run really BIG), and some local dept stores.

I would try BRU, they even just sell the little onesies (try to find just the snap front shirts as those work the best in the NICU with the wires and stuff) he will wear in the NICU. As for hats, most of my sleepers came with them but you can find those at BRU too. My mother actually crocheted a few hats for DS and then donated them to the hospital when he grew out of them. Any crocheting skills? Pick up a book and some yarn at Walmart. It's pretty easy!

thanks everyone for your replies and all the great info! We have been at ak all day so will be shopping tomorrow! Will let you know how I get on, I really wish I could crochet some hats but don't have the time or patience LOL :)

The NICU should have clothes for the baby to wear. The baby will be in a diaper only until he is starting to wean into an open crib from a heated isolette. That is at about 30 to 32 weeks, depending on his stability.

ITA, Walmart believe it or not actually has a good selection of premie clothes. DD was born 5 weeks early @ 4lbs 1oz. She is now 5 and is taller than all her friends that were born at the same time.

Hi, My boys were preemies, born at 30 weeks each weighing in at just over 3 pounds. My famliy bought a bunch of preemie clothes at babies R Us, Walmart, Gap and I think The Childrens Place.
Wishing all the best to your cousin and her new baby. This is going to be a hard time for her, I hope she has a good support system.

My ds is a former 28-wkr who weighed 1lb 5oz at birth. He mainly wore the clothes the NICU provided until he came home. He was exactly 5lbs the day he came home. I would check Walmart, I remember they seemed to have a lot of cute preemie outfits there that were also reasonably priced. You might also check Baby Gap - I got some cute outfits as gifts that came from there. As a lot of people said, they do outgrow these clothes quickly so she probably won't need a lot. I do think it's nice of you to bring some things back for her. I'm sure she'll appreciate it greatly. I also hope she has a good support system. That was certainly one of the toughest times of my life. My heart goes out to anyone that also has to go through a similar experience.

We had the best luck at Walmart when our DS arrived five weeks early (weighed 5lbs 7oz). We snagged about 10 preemie sleepers which is all we needed for these cold winter months. But as others said, some Walmarts not have them while others will have tons. DS moved onto newborn sizes when he was about 8 weeks old.

You might want to check out Prime Outlets on International Drive... there is a Carter's outlet, Children's Place, Gap, Gymboree, Janie & Jack, and Osh Kosh. I know they all carry preemie clothes but it will be hit or miss if they are in the outlets or not. But worth the trip to be able to hit up all of these baby stores in one location. Here's the link with directions on how to get there:

Good luck! Sending up a special prayer right now for the little one!
