Ok, I'm still doing maths.

Half board premium (ADULT) £31 - face value 44e
Half board premium (CHILD) £11 - face value 15e

Is that right so far?

OK, so to upgrade from half board plus to premium for 2 adults and 2 children would cost £96.

Am I right in thinking that we could eat at The Steakhouse, order whatever we liked off the menu and pay with a combination of vouchers? I'm starting to think about premium because of the following:

1.Half board plus doesn't seem to include desserts in the menu plans, so I'll probably end up having to pay extra for those.

2. Half board plus doesn't always include drinks and I just saw that a soda / orange juice was 5e! That's 15e for our drinks and about 8e for a beer for DH!

On the other hand...

My kids aren't interested in what they eat - they will want to eat and go!
Would using the vouchers at face value be the most cost-effective way of doing things?

*sigh* I need someone to make this decision for me.

It's worth noting that the drinks included are (as far as I am aware) soft drinks only, so you would still have to pay for a beer for your DH.

You're right about the steakhouse - you could combine money and vouchers to make up the cost (using vouchers at face value).

Personally, I'd just look at where you're planning to eat and judge from that. If you only want one meal in an expensive restaurant, then plus may be the way to go.

But - if you think you're going to average €30 per adult and €10 per child (based upon a 1-1 exchange rate which is basically what we have now, so it's fairly easy to do to be honest, even at the cheaper restaurants - especially if you have 3 courses) then I would go for half board premium.

Half board plus does include desserts in the meal plans - at the steakhouse etc, and it does include 1 soft drink!

We upgraded to premium and I prefered it we went to the steakhouse and order two courses each from the a la carte menu and had a couple of alcoholic drinks each which used up the value of the vouchers and we just paid a couple of euros extra I think. I couldnt have eaten 3 courses and prefered having the choice from the normal menu .

I like the idea of having the choice of the whole menu. The places we are thinking of eating are: Walt's, The Steakhouse, Annette's and one other. I was thinking that we could save a couple of vouchers and basically get one meal 'free'. I'm concerned that with having to pay for additional drinks and desserts (in Walt's I think) that it will come to more than the £96 it would have cost to upgrade, especially when a round of soft drinks would be about 20e!

We didnt use a voucher in Walts as we ate off the 19 euro express menu, so we paid and got my 15% shareholder discount. I loved Walts but the menu was much smaller when we were there then the one that is on www.magicalkingdoms.com etc - there is a copy of it on the Walts food reviews thread.

Just to complicate things more . They're definitely worth getting at the moment, it's just figuring out which ones that's the hard part

I was in the same quandry as all of you guys,

So I jsut bit the bullet and went for premium.

It's only money at the end of the day. And I love knowing that now I can eat in CG 3 times if I love it that much. And that if we choose of the menus right we can have lush meals, in the best restaurants and not spend another cent!

Hello again! Yes, I have worked out that the face value of the vouchers is about £350 and the actual coat is £250. If we can work out how much a meal for a family is (on average) we could see how many vouchers we would need to hand over and how many we would have left! I think we should plan everything together - that way we can either be smug at the end of the day or lament our poor judgement together.

I have booked The Steakhouse,Beaver Creek but would change to Inventions if I had premium,The Lucky Nugget and Buffalo Bills.

Oh I'm off to do some calculations...might be well worth it with the euro being what it is I got 395E today for £402

I'm sure with 2 obsessive bargain hunters on the case, we should be able to crack it. I'm going to have to get a wriggle on though - we leave on Sunday . Going to sit and work out the meals that we want to have and see how to best stretch the vouchers. I'll try and do it tonight and I'll let you know what I come up with . We want to eat at different places, but I think we have the same aim so I'm sure it'll all be similar.

I'm going to talk at DH about it later. I have worked out that it divides up as approximately £20 per head (for 4) per day, over 3 days. It makes it sound more reasonable. £20 for 3 courses and a drink (even for kids) would be OK.

I'm also thinking about what was advised on another thread about eating a big lunch rather than dinner. I had planned big dinners and a snack lunch, but I might have to change that. I was thinking of eating at about 2, filling up and then giving the kids a cuppa soup before bed. It's like something out of Dickens, isn't it?

Us penny pinchers have really started something here! That exchange rate is shocking. I wish I'd changed our euros in the summer. I think I might get premium and then change £100 into euros for tips and 'incidentals'. I'm thinking of putting everything else on my card.

There is a guide to the half board plans in the back of the Disney brochure. I think plus is £18 and £8. There are menu prices on magicalkingdoms.com or dlrpmagic I think. I might have made that up - my brain is porridge at the moment.

How many days is that for? I worked it out to be £96 for a family of 4 for 3 nights/4days. Has it gone up?
