The only difference I can see on the web site is that premium has a concrete pad...is this the only difference? Is it any easier to back into the premium sites? I'm willing to pay the difference just for this, as DH is nervous about backing into sites...

I personally have never even seen the premium as they were added after my last trip. But... From the pics I have seen (go through the old posts and look for them and I will try to dig them up and post a link) the driveway is much wider so it would be much easier to get into. There is also a nicer picnic table, square with seating on all sides, and a grill with a cover instead of open. Hope this helps.

This does help, thank you! As I said, easier to back into is worth the extra money for me, especially since once I DID take the time to crunch the numbers accurately ;), we will save hundreds of dollars by bringing our camper. I'll look at booking a premium site once I hear back from the Dreams Unlimited TA I've worked with in the past and see if she can get me any type of a better "deal." If not, that's ok, I'm happy with the price.

We were at FW last spring break and checked out the pool construction...it will be SO cool to take a leisurely trip to DW, stop and smell the roses instead of rushing from ride to ride (although that's fun too), and enjoy the campground amenities (including the pool!).

To be perfectly honest with you, all the premium sites give you is a larger concrete pad with no coquina shell area at the rear of the site. As far as backing a trailer in is concerned, there are a lot of premium sites that are still as difficult to back into as they were prior to the upgrades being done. If you want easy sites to back into, request to be placed on the 1200 loop. For a second choice I'd ask for the 1300 loop. The preferred loops, 100-300, are very challenging to back trailers into IMHO. For full hook-up, you can't beat 1600 or 1700.

These are all JMHO's!!

As des said, I don't think it makes much difference about the actual pad size. The 100 and 200 preferred loops seem a little tighter than some of the others, but this is more a function of road and the angle of the pad not the pad size. There are sites scattered all throughout that are tougher than others right next to them. Objects near the road (ie. cars, decorations, etc) are probably more challenging.

I agree, some loops are tighter then others, and some times objects do get in your way, especially if someone is not parked correctly on their site, etc.
My DH only likes the premium, because they do give you a little more room, but all sites do have the concrete pads.

Owning a 39' Fiver the larger or should I say WIDER pad is easier to back into. BUT, you still need a campsite that does not have all the road blocks across the street that make it difficult like trees, garbage cans, recyling stands, site markers and of course, the camper who parks their vehicle right on the site line next to the road and are away at one of the parks and cannot move it to help you out. Other than, yes the site is easier to back in.

I also like the fact that you can now sit out under your awning on the pad rather than half on and half in the dirt with the old, skinnier pads and that you can back up farther in the pad to make sure your slides won't hit the electrical box or to allow plenty of room to park your vehicle AND a Golf Cart. Some of the narrow pads can also have a stinkin' tree preventing you from letting your awning out. Not a problem with the premium sites. These new features alone make it worth it, for me, to pay the extra $10.00 bucks a night. And like previously stated, you get a new picnic table and grill with a cover.:thumbsup2

Thank goodness!!! We were there last Jan-Feb and we had the same issue! I am a complete klutz by nature and was forever tripping on the carpet pad cause it was half on half off....
We had no trouble backing in on the older sites but that could have been our location. Perfect for backing in... Hopefully we get as lucky this time!! And we've upgraded to a premium site.. Bonus!! lol:thumbsup2

Sorry to hijack this thread...but are preferred and full the same? We booked a preferred and are now getting a little nervous about backing in our new to us bus:confused3. It's 39' :scared1:.
So of the preferred choices 100-300 and 1600-1900 which are the easiest to back into? I'd change from preferred to premium but we're going over christmas and there's nothing left:eek:.
Thanks and sorry for the hijack:hug:

Thank you everyone for all of your GREAT info! Getting ready to pay my deposit for a premium site!!:yay::woohoo::yay::woohoo:

And I need to change my ticker from Shades of Green to Fort Wilderness....I'm a little hesitant to cancel my reservation over there, though. DH is military and we just never know what the future holds for him. If we have hotel rooms I can still take the kids without him...the camper is a different story. :rolleyes1 Guess I'll just have to take my chances...

Thanks everyone!

When the site upgrades were announced 100-300 and 1600-1900 were going to be preferred.

There was such a stink raised that they reclassified 1600-1900 to Full Hookup and lowered the price.

So since you booked a Preferred you will be in 100-300. (If you have a pet, you will be in 300.)
