Premium Plan for One Night Just for the Tours, LaNouba, etc.??

so, now i'm sorta p-oh'ed. (however you'd say p*ssed off). I KNEW from the boards that there was a high probability that the photo session wouldn't be available. But when we checked in, it is STILL listed in our package as being included in the Premium plan. So I called and was told it wasn't. now I'm not mad about that....what i'm mad about is this:

If it's NOT in the package anymore, WHY is listed? We checked in this morning. It's not like this is Jan 2 and they haven't had time to fix the package info.

I don't want something for nothing but the photo session WAS offered when we booked....and it still showing on my package as of NOW. I want them to fix their computers. I am, as i said...unhappy.

ITA with you. If the photo session was included with your package at the time of booking, they should honor it. :sad2:

If I remember correctly, wasn't this a recent change to the packages...like just last month? I was sure it was still on the brochure at the beginning of the year, but could be wrong.

Anyone ever done these as a solo person? How do the cruises work if solo traveler? How bought fancy dining? V and A seems like a weird place for solo eating but it's a great way to get my moneys worth and try something fancy.

I'm working hard on my dieting/exercising and hoping to plan a nice trip to disney to celebrate reaching my weight loss goal. I thought premium/platinum might be a good way to go.

Any tips/thoughts?

I'm doing platinum on my own - and yes sitting in V&A will be a tad odd but I know that the staff are very professional and friendly and I will take reading material. I'm quite used to solo dining in WDW these days - some restaurants you can sit at a bar which gives you something to look at and the bar staff will talk to you.
I don't know which cruises exactly you are thinking of. Disney do note that you could be placed with other parties for some events.
I notice your WISH sticker - Good For You!!

thanks for the tips...hope you post some info on your experience after you are done. It'll be good to see it in action. Thanks for the Wishes pep talk! I'm trying but it's a battle everyday. :yay:

Can't Guest Services assist you with this? I would like to think that they would at least just let u have the "Photo Session" :confused3 Especially since it's still listed as being "Available" with the package
:goodvibes

The concierge desk at pop took care of it for us...scheduling the session and crediting our room the price.

THEN we went to trade our LaNouba tickets in because they are dark tonight---not their usual dark night---and nobody could figure out how to get us the gift cards in lieu of the La Nouba tickets. Still waiting to see how that turns out.

DH and I are the ones doing the one Platinum plan - are we the only ones who will be able to use the one day tix?

Alternatively - has anyone put them towards renewing their PAPs yet? Does that work with the monthly payment plan for Florida resident PAPs?

Do the Wishes and Illuminations cruises run every night in slow season? I am going last week of Jan 2012 - platinum plan for 3 days of 12 day trip.

Thanks.

anyone can use them and we haven't put them toward renewal yet but will do so in October when we go again.

To follow up on our La Nouba debacle...it took the Pop manager 2 days and a second trip to Orlando (we had already moved on to Tampa for our conference) to get our gift cards for us. I would have been ticked if we hadn't planned to drive back to Orlando to fly home anyway.

But, I guess all's well that ends well, eh?

In general the answer to your question is YES, but there are certain times when they do not run.

lluminations runs every night, unless there are specific notifications otherwise.

Wishes cruises run ONLY on nights when there are Wishes fireworks, which is MOST nights. Sometimes there is not ... during Hallowishes (but there is still a fireworks show so they MAY do the cruise) and when the park closes for specific events.

You should ask specifically when you book your cruise as the CM should have a schedule of events for your time period.

If we do the platinum plan, does it give us any pull in booking hard to get dining? We have to move up our trip and so I have to rebook all of our dining - not sure if it is worth it to do platinum (one night) if we can't get the restaurants we want (including CRT for DD). Anyone know?

I don't think they have any special pull -- especially not if you are already within the 180 day window. like for example it's possible if you were having them book at the 180-day mark they might be able to get prime reservations faster/before others -- but from my experience once something is gone -- it's gone. I suppose you could have them periodically check to see if there are any openings.

I can't actually confirm from Platinum Plan experience yet... but it says in the description for the photopass CD...

...

in January we did the Wild Africa Trek tour at the Animal Kingdom. As part of the tour we received a coupon with a code on it for our FREE Photopass CD of the photos taken on our tour. I was able to get all of my Photopass photos on my FREE CD plus my pictures that Disney forgot to delete from my Photopass account from last summer! I also added pictures from a photopass session using the # provided on the receipt! This code for a free CD sounds much like this situation. You actually enter it into the box at check out on the Photopass site. I didn't even have to pay S&H!

Good tip about adding the photopass session to the CD from the receipt! :)

Oh and last time we did platinum in Nov. 2010 we were able to add photopass photos from our entire trip to the "platinum" cd no problem. We actually had gone on another trip in Oct. 2010 and were able to add those photos to the cd as well. I dont think it will be an issue.

Actually, using the online booking for dining has been pretty successful, even for busier seasons.

By doing the Platinum Pkg, you will get the assistance of a planner and, once you provide your 'wish list' along with acceptable days/times/options, they should be able to accommodate simply because of their proximity & access.

When are your travel dates?

unfortunately we are going right around Easter - so mega crowded and within 45 days so I can't book the plan and then cancel if I can't book the perks I want. It may have to wait until the next trip.....

I see here people booking platinum plan for one night and eating at V&A twice? How is that possible? How many "points" does V&A use?

The platinum (and premium) plans are set up a little differently than Disney's dining plans. There is no distinction between the "cost" of a meal. Each night you are on the plan gets three meals per person -- all meals count the same whether you use it at a quick service place, a table service, signature restaurant or even Victoria and Albert's (platinum plan only).

So for example if you did 1 night platinum you could dine at Victoria and Albert's on the check-in night and the check-out night and then you'd have 1 meal left to use for either lunch or breakfast on one of the days.

For a person who wanted to dine at V&A twice a good use might be to eat in the regular dining room the first night and "upgrade" to Chef's table the second night -- you'd just pay the difference between the cost of the chef's table and the normal menu.

I want to do the premium plan for one night at Port Orleans French Quarter then move to the Poly for the rest of the trip with room only discount. We will be arriving early Tuesday morning and want to do parasailing, Fulton's Early dinner and 6:00 La Nouba that day. Where is parasailing and what would be a good lunch option?

Parasailing is at the Contemporary resort. We like the Wave (table service at Contemporary) but other nearby options are Kona Cafe at Polynesian, Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge, or Grand Floridian Cafe. If you were using park admission that day you could dine at Cinderella's Royal Table, which would be a good use of the meal credit.
