Premium Plan for One Night Just for the Tours, LaNouba, etc.??

Ok, I'm in :)

Going in Feb.

I am on the fence between Premium and Platinum. DH is not going to like having to get up super early, he is more of a sleep in kind of guy.

Here is what I have so far:

1 night @ AKL Club level
Platinum $1077
or
Premium $965
Based on a "test" reservation on the website for Value dates. Seems like very little extra $ to go to Platinum. DH would enjoy the driving experience, I would enjoy the spa treatment (can I use his too??)
Have you consider the price difference if you and your hubby were to stay at AKL w/Platinum and forego the club lever?

$ amounts below are estimated value of the included items but they do not always reflect the AP discounts, so help there would be nice as well.

Quick breakfast from Club Lounge
Epcot Around the World Tour
$95 daily -- at 7:45, 8:30, 9 and 9:30 a.m 2 hours
Quick Lunch OOP?
Epcot Seas Aqua Tour
$140 daily 12:30pm 2.5 hours
La Nouba Show 6pm 9pm $60pp
Victoria and Alberts Vegetarian Menu- $125pp-
OR California Grill if not on Platinum. 8pm?

Quick breakfast from Club Lounge If not staying at the club level, you should be able to use one of the 2 snack credits for breakfast
Parasailing $?pp How much time? (Regular single@450 ft is ~$100/pp; reg/tandem=~$180/2pp; Deluxe single@600+ft=~$135/pp;tandem=~$205+-) I spoke to a crew at Sammy Duvall's earlier and I was told it takes about 30 minutes
Richard Petty Ride along $109 3 hours I don't think it would take more than an hour the most
Need a lunch idea
Backstage Safari 3 hours M, W, F 9am & 1pm $70pp
Photo Session (Plat includes Photopass CD, this is one thing I am unsure of how it works) $? The Portrait/Resort photo session is 20 minutes long. You get to keep one of the print choices available. The photopass CD(Platinum plan) are purchased(free with Platinum plan code) after your vacation online. This CD is not linked with the resort photoshoots.
Spa, do I have time?I am not so sure. Your schedule seems very tight. The spa treatments are 50 minutes long. If you can eat after Ilummination cruise, you might be able to squeeze it in
Flying Fish-Dinner $60pp LOVE the place
Fireworks Cruise $60pp since it can be shared I am counting it as less value Wouldn't it be nice if you can have the whole boat to yourself:hug: I was told that unless there is another all-inclusive party booking the same night, they will not put your party together with other paying guests .

Could I go to the Spa while DH does Petty Driving Experience "class" and then meet him there to see his laps?? I have no idea about the logistics of trying to do that.

If I drop down to Premium it is way easier to fit things in. Help! I know there has to be a better way to do this. We can park hop if it helps, and I think I am going to rent a car.

:yay::yay:

Hmm. Parasailing in Feb might be worth rethinking.

I was thinking the drive along took 3 hours, I reread the page on allears and see my mistake. :thumbsup2 This makes everything work together better.

I think we will skip the photoshoot, since my goal is not to torture my husband :rotfl2:

Now I wonder if we should do 3 nights of AKL DVC, or just stay in Jamba House and not have to move rooms. I wonder what AP room rates are like in Feb.

Hello everyone! Great minds think alike. I actually figured out this premium one night benefit all on my own. I think it comes from being in DIS so much and always trying to get the best deal possible. After I got the idea I figured that there had to be a thread about this somewhere and here you all are. I am so excited about my trip. I am turning the big 30 this year and I really wanted to do something special. I’ve been to DW twice with the kiddos (last trip was last month) and on DCL once. While most of my friends are doing Las Vegas for there 30th , I really wanted to do Disney but I didn’t think it was possible so soon. I figured if we could go somewhere for around 1k we could do it. Well I got lucky. This will be an adult only trip for DH and I Southwest had a big two day sale a few weeks ago and my DH snagged two roundtrip tickets from Houston for $355 (total for both tickets!:cool1:) . He surprised me with an early birthday present and I was ecstatic. So here is my plan. I received the 40% monster PIN code this year. I plan on having 3 separate reservations.

1st – Room only ASSp arriving late at night( I wanted POP but its sold out with this PIN)- $55/ night
2nd- Premium Package ASSp/ 1 day park ticket - $602
3rd- 2 night room only ASSp- $110
I went a little over my budget but I think it’s still a great deal. I know that I will have to spend a little out of pocket but that’s ok. I’m also racking up Disney Reward Dollars with my Disney visa debit card. Here are my plans for the package…

Day 1
9:00- Breakfast at Trails End- OOP
10:00-10:45 FW Horseback Riding
11:30- 1:30 FW Segway tour
ASSp
5:00- Jiko
9:00- La Nuboa

Day 2
9:00- 11:30 Parasail/Ski/PWC
11:30- Sea Racer
12:20- 2:00 Fulton’s Crab House
ASSp
5:30- 6:00 Photo Session (Beach Club)
Surrey Bikes (Boardwalk)
7:30- Yachtsmen Steakhouse
Jelly Rolls
Day 3
Epcot
Drink around the World- OOP
9:45 – Ohana- OOP
What do you guys think? Are there any holes in my plan that you can see? I know that we will be pretty busy but that’s ok with us.

We did this in May. Got the idea from this thread.
We were staying AKL DVC, so made our one night stay at AKL standard view, Platinum package. As Platinum package stay, you get use of the concierge service and lounge.
FIRST DAY, I went down early and "checked in" to our Platinum stay, got our KTTW cards. Went back up, got daughter and we went up to the lounge. She grabbed something quick, and I got a cappacino. Then to bus to Epcot for Around the World Tour. It is SO MUCH FUN. I highly recommend this! Then we grabbed a greek salad for her at Epcot, which she ate there, and headed to the entrance. The Sammy Duval shuts down between noon and 1pm, so we had a little lag time here so we took the monorail to Contemporary. We changed there, had brought our swimsuits, etc, in backpack with us all along. We had waterskiing lesson, then deluxe tandem parasailing. We were motion sick from the waterskiing, it did not go well at all. So we were just enduring the parasailing and waiting for it to end. (Don't worry, my daughter did this last year and loved it, and we will do it again when we are not already sick before we go.) Back on land, we went and threw up. Then we changed, and got a taxi back to AKL. Showered, got ready and started to feel better finally. Took a taxi to Grand Floridian. We had our photo shoot. Then we went to Victoria and Albert's for dinner. (You all know they give you a boxed rose and gift bag with date nut bread in it and your personalized menu when you leave, dont' you?) After that, we went back to the photo stand, picked our pictures and paid the extra $55 for the photo CD of all the pictures from the shoot. Then we walked down to the pier for our Fireworks cruise. There were others on our boat, and the "captain" seemed new to Disney and woefully uninformed. But it was pleasant and relaxing, just not what I had expected. We dropped the other group off at Wilderness Lodge, where they were staying, and he took us back to Grand Floridian. We got the monorail to Magic Kingdom, then walked down and took resort bus back to AKL. On the bus other people were carrying their rose boxes and talking with us, it was very nice. Back at the lodge, we stopped by our room just to see what it was like, and what they do for turndown service. There was a nice welcome gift, and chocolates on the pillow, but the room was not in a desirable location. But I did only pay for standard view, and we were staying in our DVC, just booked the room to get the package.
DAY TWO, we caught resort bus to Epcot for Backstage Magic Tour. Our tour guide was really not good at all, which greatly diminished the tour experience. I imagine it could be great with a good guide. It is a 7-8 hour tour, with lunch at Whispering Canyon Cafe, which was fun due to a great server. The tour takes you back to Epcot at the end. So after that, we took the monorail to Grand Floridian, had a snack of ice cream at Gasparillo Grill, then went for our massages. They were great. We each had really good massage. Enjoyed the steamroom, and then showered. We had brought a change of clothes with us, knowing the spa had all the facilites we need to get ready for a nice dinner. Strolled over to Narcooses for dinner. We went out onto the porch for the fireworks. You can see from inside, but people block the view. And the restaurant staff are used to everyone getting up and running out , and everything just waits until it is over. After dinner, we went back to our hotel, though I don't remember exactly how we got there, I don't think it was another taxi, but might have been. I used my last dining credit at Mara, getting a chef salad, and snack credit on Mickey Ice cream bar, before it closed. I know, a terrible waste of a dining credit, but we simply didn't have time to use it in our two busy, activity-packed days.:woohoo:
My daughter used her last one on room service, but we never ate the food before we left WDW, so wound up wasting it too. Too bad, I really hate to waste food, but we just aren't that big of eaters.
So, we packed quite a bit in our 2-day, one night Platinum Plan. As I said, we never stayed in the room, but did get our chocolates and welcome gift from it.
So, I read early on in this thread, someone asked if anyone ever did it.
Yes, we did, and it was great. I fully expect Disney will be changing things, so we may not be able to do it in the future without a minimum 3 night stay and 3 day tickets., etc. So I am really glad we jumped on it and went ahead and did it. We would likely do all these things through the course of 3-4 years, but certainly not in a two-day span. It was alot of fun, living it up like rich people for 2 days.:rotfl:
Remember to bring a jacket or shawl or something to Victoria and Albert's. You will get chilled in there. They even have shawls to loan you, it is so common.

Thanks for this excellent report! With the platinum package I knew you got IPO services but I did not know you could also use the concierge level lounge during your stay as well, this is great to know!

When you did the portrait session are the packages that are included just the things like 2 8x10's and 3 5x7's? I see you bought the CD for $55 more. Not sure which way we will go on that, I guess we'll just have to see the pix and then decide.

You said you changed into swimsuits for the watersports, do you think that nessecary for someone who is just doing the parasailing? Not sure if we should bring some to change into or just wear what we have on.

No, you don't need to change into swimsuits just to parasail, as you take off from and land back on the boat. But you might want to do some other watersport which would need swimsuits. You can change there at the changing rooms by Sammy Duvall's. However, I recommend going back to your room to change and get ready for a nice evening out after. It is not really a place to dress for dinner.
The photo package has several options that come included in the free photoshoot with the platinum package. I don't remember what they are. The photographer suggested something, and we went with it because we were worried about getting to our Fireworks cruise on time. If we had gone back two days later to look when we had more time, I think we would have chosen differently. Oh well. As I said, we bought the CD of the photoshoot. They told us we can take it to Walmart or CVS or anywhere and get whatever pix we want made from it (at much cheaper prices). Seemed like a good $55 purchase.

We have decided to wait until our next trip in two years to do the premium plan. I'm scared that they will change it. I think if you go ahead and book something and they do change it, you still get what you booked at the price you booked it, correct? That being said, how early can you book a room, therefore, this package? Wouldn't it just involve the one night room deposit?

Unfortunately, I think if you book anything beyond 2010, once the rates for that year are announced (usually in August?) you will automatically be charged the new (higher) rates. Reserving now won't lock-in the current rates or rules.

We put our Premium plans in-place MONTHS ago, but since our final payment is due this coming Saturday, I decided to 'review' and make necessary changes. That got my mind stiring and I began to think, well, if we just did the Platinum plan (we got the 40% pin as well), we could actually do...

Fortunately (or unfortunately) sounder wisdom prevailed :cool1: when I called DH at work "Premium is FINE - stop now, please?" Okay, got it, love you too, honey. :lovestruc

But, being the person I am, a few switches were made. When he got home and looked at the new plan, he totally agreed so now:

DAY ONE:
6:00am: POP change from room-only to "Premium" & drive to Contemporary

6:45am: pier for 7:00am-9:00am Bass Fishing Cruise (furnish coffee, juice, danish). Neither of us are 'fishing' people, but this is a 'catch-and-release' cruise and thought it would be a great beginning - just us, the guide and the captain on a pontoon boat with nice shade and good breeze. When done, they'll drop us off at MK pier;

9:30am: MK @ KTTK tour - 4 1/2 hours including lunch.

2:00pm: POP, rest, shower, change

5:45pm: Drive to Grand Floridian, check in at photo desk for -

6:00pm: Photo session @ GF (20 minutes)

7:05pm: Citrico's dinner (check in early)

8:20ish: Mono to MK for -

8:45pm: Reserved viewing for Wishes

9:30pm: POP -- sleep!!!

DAY TWO:

7:45am: Load luggage in car, check-out, drive to FW, park, bus to Mike's Bike Barn for -

8:30am: Wilderness Segway tour (2 hours)

10:30am: Drive to Wyndham Bonnet Creek (right by POP), pre-check-in & leave luggage, head to Hollywood Studios for -

11:30am: Grab FP as available for TSM, the ToT fix. Ride, browse until -

1:45pm: Hollywood Brown Derby lunch, enjoy, linger, wait for FP time

3:30pm: Drive to WBC for check-in, rest, shower, change

5:00pm: Drive to DTD, park by La Nouba, check-in for 6:00pm show

7:30pm: Walk to Portabello for dinner & wine! When totally satiated, head to resort for jacuzzi & a good night of rest.

Approx value of Activities/Meals: $1165
Cost of Premium plan: $328
Costs not covered by plan: $200 maximum
(room, taxes, tips, wine, etc.)
TOTAL saved by doing package: $637

Not to shabby considering we would have done La Nouba & Segway anyway!

Now, if DH would just agree to Platinum...

Does anyone know if there are any room discounts available if you are on the Platinum Plan (AAA, anything?)

We booked our room on-line using a posted discount; got the room at a good price; added on the Premium plan with no problem

I know you cannot book the PLATINUM along with the 40% discount currently available (just tried earlier today to see if I could get it to work), but there are some lower-than-normal room prices for slower periods out there.

Basically, I guess it depends on WHEN you plan to go.

By the way ... we decided that for us it would be just as easy to pay for a massage or dinner at Victoria & Albert's than to pay for a deluxe room & the extra funds for Platinum.

Unfortunately, I agree with an earlier poster that WDW will most likely start requiring more than a 1-day park pass purchase in order to get the Premium package, so look for our 'fun' to cost a bit more in 2011! They are already requiring a minimum stay & park pass purchase for Free Dining so it is only a matter of time.

So as our one night Platinum stay vacation approaches, I would love it if some of you experts would analyze, make suggestions, etc. We travel in August (going for our 20th anniversary). We will be there for a week and we were just there in June with our kids, so this trip is about doing the "other stuff". We will have a rental car!

Friday: Arrive for one night room only AP discount at Grand Floridian (late in afternoon arrival)

Saturday: Check in for Platinum Plan.
7:30 Steam Train Tour, Magic Kingdom
12:00 Hollywood Brown Derby (may switch this to CRT? any thoughts? a long way to go for lunch, originally thought this would be the Segway Tour day)
7:00 Fulton's Crabhouse
9:00 Cirque du Soleil

Sunday: Check in to AKV for DVC stay for the week
8:30 Segway Tour at Epcot
Lunch: Out of Pocket
5:45 pm Victoria and Albert's
9:00 Wishes Fireworks Cruise

What I would like to fit in:
Massages (thinking Sunday afternoon because that will allow us to get ready for our dinner at V and A's)
Parasailing
Richard Petty thing
Photo session

Has anyone else who has done this been able to use the Club Level lounge?

Wow! All of your things you want to do can so easily be accomplished from the GF! I think it would help a lot to switch around V & A with Fulton's but that is just my opinion. It is a long way just for that one lunch but if that is what you love or have always wanted to do, I'd do it. I'd do the photo session before supper on Saturday. I'd do the parasailing on that day as well so you have a quick way to be out of wet clothes in case you get wet if you decide to do some other type of boating while you're there. Are your massages going to be at the GF? If so, that will be close to Richard Petty, right? That works out for Sunday. Have fun!

I have ressies at GF that I got a very good price on from Southwest. Does this mean that I could add the premium plan onto this reservation?

It would certainly be worth a phone call to find out. I know you would have needed to include at least a 1-day park pass with your room ressie, but at this point, that should be the only restriction. Go for it!

7:30 Steam Train Tour, Magic Kingdom [
COLOR="DarkRed"]done by 10:30 - COULD get over to FW for their Segway tour? Might be tight, but boats go to FW and then take an internal bus to Bike Barn. [/COLOR]
12:00 Hollywood Brown Derby (may switch to CRT? any thoughts?
Makes sence as you will be RIGHT THERE in MK, I just don't care for their food all that much, but can't beat the atmosphere & view!a long way to go for lunch, originally thought this would be the Segway Tour day)
We also planned a lunch at HBD after our early FW Segway tour because we love the place AND we love ToT. Good place to spend time waiting for our room to be ready for check-in (moving off-premise on 2nd day)
7:00 Fulton's Crabhouse
We chose Portabello for dinner w/Flying Fish as a back-up. However, we are doing 6pm La Nouba then dinner - would rather not rush a nice dinner, so eating a later lunch, then LN, then dinner. If you wanted, you COULD an early lunch @ Fulton's instead of HBD? Would save having to Park Hop unless you already need to.
9:00 Cirque du Soleil

Sunday: Check in to AKV for DVC stay for the week
8:30 Segway Tour at Epcot

5:45 pm Victoria and Albert's
9:00 Wishes Fireworks Cruise

Good option, but WHERE are you planning to have the massages?
Parasailing Actual in-air time is only 10-12 minutes, so this could be a good 1-hour fill, perhaps after Richard Petty on you Steam Train day?
Richard Petty thing
Photo session I also would do this before you Victoria & Albert meal UNLESS you'd rather have the pics taken at AKL or other location.

Sounds like a great plan overall. Wish I could have convinced DH we needed to do Platinum, but we can get pretty much everything we want using POP & Premium - and we can pay OOP for another couple of things (massage...ah,) & still save a good hunk of money over the cost of Deluxe upgrade. But, there is always NEXT time????

I have ressies at GF that I got a very good price on from Southwest. Does this mean that I could add the premium plan onto this reservation?

I highly doubt it, but I suppose it can't hurt to try. Did you get your room during the southwest/orbitz "price mistake" a few weeks ago? The one where the prices were like 40% plus an additional 40% off? When I tried to book that deal through orbitz you couldn't even add the dining plan, let alone the premium/platinum plan that is far more restrictive on how you can book.

I don't know what discounts anyone else has been able to find that will work with premium/platinum but everything I have been told is that the only discount that will work is AAA. I tried several others myself and no go.

Good luck!

Anyone who has done this before with 2 or more rooms, if you did the portrait session, could you select two print packages without having to pay extra? I made a reservation for the session at poly but then I realized maybe we would get 2 print packages since we had 2 rooms. We don't nessecarily need the session itself to be longer, but probably wouldn't hurt either. Any thoughts?

A question for anyone who has done this package before, did you get anything in the mail ahead of time? Our package is paid for and we are a little more then a month out and we still haven't gotten any literature in the mail, is that unusual?
