Premium (Dining) Package Questions

Disney requires a pass purchase, not sure if you're even allowed to add no-expiry, for your entire stay. Makes some sense since the package covers almost everything BUT with all the other extras my guess is I'd skip the parks some days. I might try it with MYW ticket pricing but under the old system I wouldn't be willing to pay for park days I wouldn't be using.

I'm pretty sure you can add the no-expiry feature to the tickets. I know on-line it would let you. What I did since I knew we would be arriving late, etc... was broke my reservation into 3 parts -- room only, package, room only since you have until midnight your check-out night to use all the components (just sometimes it is a bit difficult but I DID get my final meal credits in there! :rotfl: )

BUT-- do you have to do this with deluxes? If not, then I could see DH and I doing it for our anniversary trip in March 2006. How would it work with baseball tix? (We are planning a long weekend trip to the POR for our anniversary/ to see the Mets play the Braves in the "grapefruit league")

Nope, you can stay at any of the on-site hotels and get the Premium plan. I know the new Platinum plan can only be done at the deluxes (basically to me it's getting concierge without staying in a concierge room).

I'm not sure about baseball tickets because those wouldn't be included as far as I know.

Here is a link to the brochure (if this works)

This is something my husband and I have talked about doing when our son is a little older (he's 5 right now). Are the spa treatments included also? I wasn't sure if that was for the premium or platinum plan. Also, do you have to make ADR's or can you just go to any restaurant you want any time you want?

I don't want this thread turning into a mathematical debate.
I wasn't trying to start a debate---I was just answering Lewisc's question:
How much is the plan per day?
as simply as possble, and then you wondered how I came up with the figure:
no IDEA where this came from though
so, as my math teacher might have said, I "showed my work."

I understand why some people like peace of mind and "vacation feel" of pre-paying for services and amenities, even if, in the end, they pay a little extra for what they actually use; one of my favorite vacations of all time was an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica for my honeymoon, and it is nice to not carry a wallet. But others who don't mind pulling out the credit card while on vacation may want to know if it's a better deal for their own plans to buy the Premium package, or to just pay as they go. Since someone asked, I thought it only reasonable to provide the answer.

I'm sorry that you don't approve.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to start a "mathematical debate". I was just wondering if under normal use you'd save money, break even or come out behind.

In general it looks like the plan works if you eat at least 2 somewhat expensive TS meals a day and use at least one of the other extras most days; La Nouba, a tour, golf etc.

I might have tried a few years ago but I already had an AP. My memory is I would have lost my AP discount on my room and would have had to buy LOS passes. That wouldn't have made any sense.

I don't think I'd consider doing a week that way but 3 or 4 night stay might be a different vacation experience.

Brian--Thanks for saving me the trouble of looking it up. Using the junior pricing makes sense. Before I'd book I'd make sure I could add the no-expiry feature. With all the extras I doubt I'd be going to theme park every day let alone using the water park passes.

Like I said before, I don't want this thread turning into a mathematical debate. That was not my intent. It was to show the best of the best you can get in regards to package deals for WDW.

Dh and I LOVE LOVE LOVE all-inclusives and consider the extra relaxation of not "budgeting as we go" to be worth a little money, too. (So we don't care about the mathematical debate other than figuring out if we can afford the grand total...) We didn't look at it seriously this next trip because DD is only 4 and would not really get a lot out of all the extras plus the POLY is very expensive for us as is...

No, this plan is for any resort. We have used it with POFQ (more an adult resort IMHO) and loved it.

I think that this would be great for your anniversary trip. We had a blast with it. I am not sure about the baseball, but don't think that is something that is included in any plan as that relies on the teams, etc. You could check into it though.

The price for our last stay at POFQ in March (Easter week) with the package was a little over $2,000. We are going again this December (Christmas week) with the package at the same resort (POFQ) and it comes to about $3,000. This is also due to the higher price of airfare and it being peak season. These two figures are for two adults for seven days.

Spa treatments used to be an option on the Silver and Gold plans. I believe they are included with the Platinum package though.

You can make ADR's (we tend to as we typically travel during busy seasons), but you do not have to. That is what is so flexible...go where you want, when you want, and eat and do what you want! :dance3:

I think you would still need to make ADR's in general for sit-downs as I don't think the Premium gets you any head of the line privileges (i.e. if you don't have an ADR you are going to be treated like a walk-up and if they don't have room, you still won't get in -- we went in July though and I wasn't about to take a chance on NOT having ADR's -- we were able to change them as necessary while we were there). HOWEVER....I don't know if it was due to Premium or just because it was Disney and they were nice...our first night on the plan we were *very* late to our ADR at Yachtsman -- at least 45 minutes if not an hour (for a family of 6 no less) and they got us in. I did tell them I would understand if they couldn't seat us, we did tell us we were going to have to wait a bit (no problem...we were the ones late to start with) but we got seated probably within 15 minutes.

I have a timing question about the premium plan.

Suppose I do the premium plan for, say, 3 nights--Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. I check in on Tuesday at 8 am at my resort (I know the room won't be ready, but suppose they store my luggage and give me the tickets and such) and given what the brochure seems to indicate, I can't get a breakfast or lunch that day using the plan--just dinner (I guess because normal check in time is 3 pm) and then on Friday I check out at 11 am and according the brochure I can get breakfast and lunch that day (but not dinner). That makes sense--I end up with a total of 9 meals = 3 meals per each of the 3 nights of the plan.

But how does the admission to tours and recreation work? Can I go on a tour on Tuesday morning after I check in, and then another tour Wednesday morning, Thursday morning, and Friday morning, thus getting 4 mornings worth of free recreation? This is somewhat hypothetical--not like I'd want to to four tours in a row, but I might like to do some type of recreation each morning for all four of those mornings. Can I do this?

Actually, as soon as you check-in you will get your full allotment of credits for 3 meals/day so if you check-in at 8 AM, you can go get breakfast & lunch if you want. You can allot it any way you want. If you want 4 meals in one day you could do that. You just would only be able to have 2 meals a different day.

Yes, as soon as you check-in and have your plan on your card, you can go do any of the allowed tours & any recreation from the time you check-in until midnight of your check-out day. Now after 6 pm on check-out day there might be problems but not sure on recreation since it's all included. I know it's a problem with meals because we *had* that problem (as we did a check-out & then room only). We didn't do any recreation then though as those don't work as X numbers it shouldn't matter -- they could just look on your card and see it printed saying Premium on it and the dates. I do believe this would work if I'm understanding it correctly

Tuesday -- check in early, go to the tour.
Wednesday -- go on tour
Thursday -- go on tour
Friday -- check out, go on tour (since Premium is good until midnight until this day).

That would work.

HI there! Since you're offering your advice I'll take you up on that! My boyfriend and I are thinking of doing the Premium Plan in '08 for a weeklong vacation. I am trying to figure out if it will be worth it. I'm a major foodie and love the parks, but he is looking forward to the golfing aspect of it. Do you really get unlimited golf? (he could get up every morning and play if he wanted?) Also, do you know how much this is per person to add on? Just trying to find out how much we need to start hoarding away in pennies! Thanks so much

You might want to wait a few weeks until the terms of the 2008 packages are released. It sounds like Disney is making changes in the basic DDP, they may also be making changes to the more expensive plans.

I agree with Lewisc - not sure what/if any changes will be made for 08. However if the plan stays substantially the same - yes your bf could golf everyday - it includes golf, lessions, green fees, golf cart, balls, shoes and clubs. You would need to leave a cc hold for the club rental (I guess in case you don't bring them back or he pulls a donald and bends them over his knee). As for the current cost it is approx $150 per person, per night (remember as a package this also means you must book a room and some form of park tickets in addition).

Pricing

Short answer: It seems adults are $149 per person per night for Premium, $199 per person per night for Platnium. As someone mentioned, that's a lot, but actually a deal if you golf.

Long Answer: I went to Disney's Official Website and priced out a package with 6 nights at the AKL. Prices were:

Magic Your Way: $2,542.16
Magic Your Way with dinning: $3,010.04
Magic Your Way Premium Package: $4,330.16
Magic Your Way Platinum Package: $4,930.16

A little math gets you

Magic Your Way: $2,542.16

Magic Your Way with dinning: $2,542.16 + (2 adults)x(6 nights)x$38.99

Magic Your Way Premium Package: $2,542.16+ (2 adults)x(6 nights)x$149

Magic Your Way Platinum Package: $2,542.16+ (2 adults)x(6 nights)x$199

any idea what a child's price would be?

Using the same logic, a kid aged 4-9 would be $99/night premium, $129/night platinum.

Note - it looks like you can put the premium on any plan, but the platinum can only be added to deluxes. Hmm, POP with Premium, or GF for the same money? I'm taking POP!
