Beginning Jan 1st 2013 the premium AP Merchandise discount will be reduced from 20% to 10% at Walt Disney World.

Needless to say ill be purchasing less souvenirs in 2013. A lot of Premium APs were just purchased as part of the DVC deal. $399 for a PAP. Discuss.

I don't have a Premium AP, but am considering getting the Premier Passport for WDW and Disneyland in 2013. Guess I'll just wait for the 20% off coupons on counter service receipts if I want to save more!

I knew we should have bought more stuff last week. pirate:

The Disneyland website says that our merchandise discounts are expiring at the end of the year, but no word there as to what's happening next year.

I may need to make a quick shopping trip. :woohoo:

I don't know about for Disney World, but for Disneyland they did this same thing last year. The discount was supposed to expire at the end of the year, then about Dec. 30th they decided to extend it to the middle of the year, come the middle of the year, they extended it again.

The 20% discount was always supposed to be temporary, but I think they have been finding that they are making more money with it than without it, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it extended again, but don't count on it either.

The Disneyland one was extended half a dozen times. I think it started out as a Holiday promotion in 2010. :rotfl2:

Sometime this year though, the expiration date disapppeared...then just as suddenly it came back again. Ugh!

Ever since he met Holley, he's barely had any time for his friends. I was lucky to get that interview. Plus, he was such a diva during it, you wouldn't believe.

:rolleyes1

Yeah I know his head got so big they had to put a hat on it not to scar the kids. Well I am sure Dj will give you his discount and he could play music for the podcast.

Or their big red when he not responding to calls he dose seem a little to trust worthy wonder if Disney even gives him a discount.

Looks like Disney is rapidly charging us more and giving us less. I guess they had to pay for nextgen, Lucas , etc some how :-(

What does that mean for Premier passholders? One of the perks was supposed to be the merchandise discount. I don't live in California or Florida, so the merchandise discount was part of what made the Premier pass worthwhile.

The Premiere Passport is treated as a Premium AP in Florida. We had one for most of 2012. So you'll get the same benefits that the Premium AP gets.

I guess that means I'll have to do math to decide if it's worth getting again. Good thing I like math!

We just bought our premium pass at the end of Sept. Of course the 20% off is used as a selling point then woosh! it's gone. Disney is just like everyother place. They change the rules in the middle of the game. Say what you want about if this was an actual part of the purchase or just a bonus, but it was presented as part of the pass and I just don't have the time or desire to double check every word that is told to me by a CM. Quite often they don't know themselves. I don't fault them, things change so much and w/ so much detail that it's hard to keep up :goodvibes:

I still don't quite understand what the big deal is, the website has made it abundantly clear that the 20% off was a special offer and nothing more.

The 10% off is what is listed as the regular discount on merchandise on all documentation that I have seen.

The question I have is are they reestablishing the $10 minimum?

Maybe it was all of us DVC members snapping up the super-cheap PAP offer...then they realized they didn't need to entice us with the 20% as well...

;) yep I think so.

Anyone know if the discount wth the Premier Passport that allows access to WDW and DL remains 20%?

Doubtful...they treat the PP as a PAP at WDW, so the discount would match whatever the PAP gets.

Too bad. I'm not a Premium AP...but if I was, I would buy anything I had been holding of on purchasing. Welcome to the world of profit-making.
