Premiere Passport Questions

I need DISboards expertise and guidance--not sure if this is the correct forum in which to post.

We are heading to WDW in July for 10 days. We typically get park hoppers, but have decided to get annual passes this time, as we are planning on returning for another 10 days in June 2014 to use our new DVC points (yay!). After doing a lot of reading on the DIS, I purchased a 5-day park hopper from Undercover Tourist with the intention of bridging the hopper to a DVC annual pass ($452.63/per pass).

It's now starting to look like we will also be heading to Disneyland at least 3 times this year (we live in California) with various extended family. A 3-day park hopper at Dland is about $250, I believe. If we go on only two of those proposed three trips to Disneyland, that would be $500. It's looking like the Premiere Passport at $870 is a "bargain."

Question 1: Am I crazy/am I doing the "math" correctly?
Question 2: How do I get a premiere pass? Do I have to enter the park and go to guest services?
Question 3: Would I be wise to still use the 5-day hopper and bridge to the premiere pass? If I have to enter a park to purchase, I suppose I have to have some sort of ticket to get in!

Thoughts/suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance!

I've had a Premier for a couple of years. The only part I'm not sure of is converting a UT ticket into an AP. But I'm assuming you've already done that research. You would definitely come out ahead getting a Premier.

Also remember that with the Premier, you will get 20% off merchandise at DLR (only 10% off in WDW), and most of the CS at DLR will give you a 10% discount. Yes, 10% disc on hand dipped corn dogs!

I would go to MK and get your Premier there. I was told they are the most experienced at tickets, so I always go there when I'm doing something other than a straight purchase. (I've purchased using unused tickets from a MYW package, Disney Gift card, credit card, and cash, all in one transaction and had no problems)

The AP will start from whatever date you first used your multi day pass, so there is no payoff to waiting a few days. Plus in the old days, I just wanted to get that nice plastic pass so I didn't have to fiddle with paper tickets.

You would go to guest services outside the park. We found it a bargain with one planned WDW trip and two DLR trips. It is actually a 15% discount on food at DLR across the board - CS and TS and 20% off merchandise.

You have to get your Premiere at the GS OUTSIDE the parks. So, enter, exit, then go to GS for bridging purposes, lol. I just did mine on Sun and those GS are the only ones with the ticket stock.

Also, they are RFID now.

If you've added up all the tickets and the tickets come to more than the Premier pass, then you've done the math correctly. :) Toss in the discounts and you've got a relative bargain.

The Premier is equal to Premium APs for each park. So you get the Premium benefits at each park. At DLR it's 20% off disney-owned-store merchandise and 15% at almost all dining locations, both CS and TS. Not ALL of them, but you *should* be given a list at DLR, but I always ask everywhere.

And I'm sure you know the WDW AP benefits.

Since you know you'll be doing the extra trips, you might as well just upgrade the UCT tickets right to the Premier. You could do the WDW AP first, and then upgrade later to Premier, but you won't save anything and it will expire the same time anyway. So you might as well just start it all off with the big one. :)

Thanks, everyone. On our first day at WDW, we are headed to AK, so it sounds like we'll use our 5-day PH to enter, purchase TIW, then as we leave the park, we'll bridge to a premiere pass. Now, I officially feel like an addict! :-)

Unfortunately, you can't purchase TIW until you have your APs in hand. I think you can purchase it at the same time you buy the AP, though.

If they only had the option to buy it b/c of the AP that would be true. But they are new DVC members as well, and DVC members can now buy TIWs, and it's the same price as for AP holders.

I personally would just do it at the same time as upgrading, unless I was going to have a TIW-eligible meal in between entering the park and upgrading to the AP, but she doesn't *have to* wait.

Can I get TIW at the guest services outside the park? I was under the impression that was done inside the park, but I've never done it, so I may have made that up in my head!
