I have had zero appetite for dinners and usually if I have to cook it, I can't eat it (I get sick to my stomach). Hubby is getting tired of just eating whatever we have for dinner.

I cannot handle beef or pork. I can handle some chicken and pasta dishes.

Also, I am not looking for anything spicy or "extra flavorful" LOL. My stomach is very picky right now.

Hopefully the crockpot will help!:)

TIA:hug:

Take chicken breast and throw it in with broth about an hour before ready to eat cut up biscuts(the ones in a can) and you got chicken and dumplings.

Take a pork tenderloin and throw bbq sauce and little water over it, puulled pork. Or use Chicken ;)

Beef cubes and veggies with some broth, beef soup.

Beef Roast, potatoes, carrots and gravy packet with plenty of water.

You can also google crockpot recipes. I don't have it, but a friend of mine had a website she used alot.

Do odors bother you? When I use my crockpot, the whole house smells like whatever I'm cooking. Usually that's a good thing, but if you're already a little queasy, it might not be!

Most of my crockpot recipes are beef/pork, so I don't think they'd help you. Maybe you could just cook chicken in it and shred it to keep in the fridge for a couple days. Then you could easily make a soup or pasta dish with it, or you could eat it plain while DH mixes it with BBQ or buffalo or something for a sandwich.

Hope you start feeling better soon!

For the nauesea you can try pepermint in most any form I use pepermint candy. I have IBS and alot of tummy issues :( Also Ginger helps you can get them in caps if needed.
Here is a link for recipes www.crock-pot.com
You could also cook ahead a few meals ( when you feel up to it ) and freeze them in smaller portions. Then hubby can take what he likes. As a side note I was on bed rest for 7 mo with my last one and the only thing I could keep down was Graham crackers, Sprite and Progresso chicken soup.. yeah Breakfast lunch and Dinner was soup. I am suprised she didnt come out with feathers doing the Chicken Dance!! :lmao:
maybe ask your hubby if he could make a meal also here is another link. http://crockpotguys.com/
not sure if the crock pot will be a wonderful idea because if you cant handle the smell of cooking something quickly how are you going to handle it for hours while it cooks, unless you arent at home ? Just thinking out loud. trust me I know it sucks. I still deal with the tummy issues. I keep mints in my purse and car. Best of luck my dear :goodvibes

I get most of my crockpot recipes from http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/

But our favorite here is salsa chicken - don't panic, it really isn't spicy!

Frozen (or fresh) chicken breasts, cover with a bag of frozen corn, a couple cans of beans drained and rinsed, a large jar of mild salsa. If you can't have the salsa, even some canned tomatoes would do. All day on low heat, yummy as fajitas or when we're really hungry we just grab a bowl and throw cheese on top.

1 whole chicken minus the bag of goodies that comes inside (I remove the skin). Rub with whatever spices you can tolerate even if its only salt and pepper. 1 can of chicken broth. Low - 8 hours. It falls apart as you go to take it out and all the meat is juicy. Careful of bones.

AND I just got the ingredients to try a stuffed pepper recipe I saw in Disney Family Fun magazine. It's turkey meat, brown rice, onion, garlic and Italian seasoning in peppers with marinara poured over it. High - 4 hours. Low - 6 hours.

by the way, CONGRATS! Both my girls gave me nausea and heart burn for the first few weeks. I hope it passes quickly!

Whenever I need a crockpot recipe, I just go to this website:

http://crockingirls.com/

They started with a simple Facebook page to ask their friends for recipes and it went viral within days. They then started this web site to house all of the recipes. As a bonus, they make a video every Monday of a new recipe. You can search by main ingredients, so just search chicken recipes since you like that.

Crockpot lasagna. Can be made with or without beef.

Box of pasta (I use the large bow ties), cooked.
Bag of shredded mozzarella cheese
Couple of slices of provolone cheese
Jar of spaghetti sauce
optional pound of ground beef or ground chicken/turkey

Layer noodles, meat (if using), mozzarella cheese, and sauce. I put some provolone cheese in the middle layer as well.

Cook on low several hours. So good, easy, cheap & fast!

Ugh, I feel for you. I had my baby six months ago (she is wonderful!) and felt like you the whole pregnancy. I could handle turkey and cheese early on and then did really poorly in the protein department the rest of the pregnancy. Just the thought of it made me ill, not to mention the smells, tastes, etc.

I only gained 20lbs, per doctors orders, and felt much better after the baby was born. My hubby really stepped up to the cooking. I could handle breakfast for dinner and chicken sometimes, some yogurt and soup. Later in the pregnancy, pasta and some protein weren't as gross, but my advice is if it doesn't sound good, don't eat it.

Good luck!

Oh man do I feel you!

I'm currently 33 weeks pregnant right now and for the first 2 -3 months, I couldn't eat anything. I've only gained about 4 or 5 pounds total because of how sick I got. Zofran is what saved me and got my appetite back.

Whenever I was physically able to cook, I made a lot of bland chicken dishes and Dh would have to add his own special touches to make them have flavor. I found that breakfast for dinner was always a great option for us, so making homemade waffles in batches and freezing them helped a lot.

I didn't make any crockpot meals because there is no WAY I would have been able to handle the smells going throughout the house all day. If smells are an issue, I really wouldn't be doing crockpot dishes. How about picking up some easy microwavable dishes from Costco like pot roast, pulled chicken, etc, so at least your hubby can 'cook' it if you're unable to.

Hope you feel better soon!

I adore my crock pots (I actually have three in varying sizes). My favorite crockpot website is crockpot365.blogspot.com -- it was written by a woman who decided to use her crock pot every single day for a year. You can find a great selection of recipes.

One I suggest: Buttermilk chicken. It's comforting and bland, and I think would hit the spot with a pregnant tummy. It's also super easy.

Buttermilk chicken

Chicken breasts
2 cans Cream of Chicken with herbs -- this isn't easy to find, but do not substitute
1 soup can buttermilk
1/4 cup chopped red onion

Just let it cook all day in the crockpot, then serve over rice.

This is a perfect time for hubby to learn how to cook!! :thumbsup2

I use the sites that others' have already mentioned...

Hubby has a really stressful job and works 12+ hour days. He gets home around 7 or 7:30 at night, so I feel bad asking him to make something to eat, too. :lovestruc

Don't feel bad, I am sure he is more than happy to help. Or go to the salad/sandwich for dinner for him. I am sure he step up and you should not feel guilty at all. Hoping you are feeling better real soon.

I make this all the time. In fact I thought I made this recipe up! :rotfl:

I feel for you. Before I discovered the magical wonderfulness that is Zofran, I was sick morning noon and night. There was a time when I could only eat those fruit and cheese platters from the grocery store. (Yup, the ones meant for a whole family.) DH once mildly suggested how we could make it at home and it nearly led to his untimely demise. :rotfl2:

My favorite crockpot recipes are beans (idk how this would do for your tummy)
-2 lbs pinto beans, soaked overnight
-seasoned with 1/4 cup salsa, 1 tbsp chili powder, and 1 tsp each cumin, salt, and pepper. Serve with rice. (I use the boil in bag, it's a little more expensive, but idiot proof and requires you to do nothing except turn on the stove.)

I also love crockpot baked potatoes. You can just season them, wrap them in foil, and cook them on low all day. They really don't have a smell at all, and you can top them with as little or as much as you can handle. For us, salad and baked potatoes are a meal, although my pregnant belly couldn't handle salad for a good 5 months or so.

Where's the recipe for that, I searched and couldn't find it. That sounds really good!

Haha - that's great! I'll give you credit! I have absolutely ZERO creativity in the kitchen - when I read this recipe, I thought "huh, that's awfully easy. Wish I had thought of that." So now I'll think "good for littlebit, this is a great recipe!" :goodvibes

crockpot chicken sandwiches:
throw 2-3 chicken breasts into crockpot with one can cream of mushroom soup and one half can milk on high for 3-4 hours. after 3-4 hours you can shred the chicken breasts w/a fork. i add unseasoned croutons and continue to cook on high for another hour.

crockpot chicken and dumplings:
throw 3 chicken breasts into crockpot. top w/ 2 tbsp butter, 2 cans of cream of chicken soup, 1 can of broth (i have used water-it didn't make a difference in taste). cook on high 4-6 hours or low for 8 hours. shred chicken breasts w/ a fork. add in 4 refrigerated biscuits (uncooked, just tear the dough into chunks and drop in), continue to cook on high for 30 minutes until an hour. i've used buttermilk or flaky biscuits.

i hope you start to feel better soon; with both of my pregnancies i only felt good if i was eating for the first 12-14 weeks.
