I will be 15 weeks pregnant during our visit. I am a high risk pregnancy with recurrent miscarriage.

My OB has instructed me to not ride anything with a sudden drop like Pirates of the Carribean. And nothing that spins or pulls.

I will of course avoid the big rides and the speedway/bumper cars.

My fear is getting on a "tame" ride and then finding an surprise drop or bump.

Would you help me identify the rides with unexpected drops, jarring, etc.?

Thank you

PS: If you are wondering why I am going, this trip was planned for our 4 year old before I became pregnant. We are bringing 5 adults for 1 child so there will be plenty of people to ride with him other than me.

Since there will be others to ride with your child, I wouldn't risk riding ANYTHING.

WDW can be hard on your body just with all the walking and stress, nope I would calming sit and watch my child enjoy while in the hands of others.

You can have a nice vacation without doing any rides. Just being in the environment, the smells, the sun, the music. Just relax and enjoy the view.

That is my opinion.

Good luck!!

My wife and I just returned from our Disney trip a week ago. We are in the same boat, 17 weeks pregnant and very high risk also, multiple miscarriages, she has to have lovenox shots daily, you know how it goes. Our second high risk pregnancy also. We have a 7 month old daughter who was high risk as well. It was a long bumpy road but she got here and is happy and healthy.

The doctor did give her the ok to rides some rides using her better judgement. She did ride Pirates and was totally fine, i did warn her ahead of time so she could brace herself for the drop. I wouldnt even really consider it to much of a drop though. But if you are at all worried about it then use your judgement on whether you want to ride or not. She also rode Pooh, which she said was a little more rough than she anticipated so if motion sickness is a problem this may possibly get you going a little bit. Pan and Small World gave her no problems at all. We did have to leave the Magic Kingdom early that Saturday. My wife was feeding our daughter in her stroller in front of the Harmony Barber shop and she wasnt paying attention and took a step back and didnt realize there was a curb and trip and lost her balance and got her self a little twisted up. She started having slight contractions so we left to go back to the hotel to relax. All was well and she was ok enough to go to Animal Kingdom the next day.

enchanted tiki room may be the only thing that you can go on...hope this helps...have fun. oh, you might be able to go see the hall of presidents depends if you are prone to jerk dreams...

Congratulations! Pregnancy is so exciting but unfortunately I know how nerve-wracking it can be after recurrent losses. :( There are so many great shows that you and your DS would enjoy...Philharmagic, Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid. I also think Small World, Peter Pan, etc. should be fine. You will use your best judgment...if there is anything you are worried about, you can always have the group ride first and report back to you on how rough it is.

Congrats again and have a wonderful trip!

What parks are you planning on going to? To tell you the truth there is still more there that you are able to ride than there is you arent allowed to ride. Especially at the Magic Kingdom.

Definite Donts
Space, Thunder and Splash Mountain and Tomorrow Land Speedway.

Maybes
Pirates and Buzz Light Year Space Ranger Spin, you control the spin so not to bad

Went to WDW one time with 2 sons and DW who was about 4+months pregnant, not a high risk pregnancy, but she opted against doing any "questionable" rides the entire time we were there. However, our airplane ride home was the worse we ever had, lots of turbulence !! We were convinced that was worse than any ride Disney offers:confused3 We were pretty bummed !!

I'm not sure how much you can do... I would say jungle cruise and IASW would be ok as they are really smoth. The omnimover type rides as well (assuming you know when haunted mansion tips you backward to go down the hill so its not surprising).

But even something like toy story mania which tends to start and stop somewhat abruptly at each game station may bump you around more then I would be willing to risk.

Also you have to think about what if something goes wrong. ANY ride can abruptly stop if there is a problem with the ride. I'm not sure I would be comfortable going on anything knowing that with something so important. Its not like you have a back issue where if something happens you'll be sore for a day or so, in that case you may reasonably take the risk and ride something that you know is fine as long as the ride operates normally but for a baby? I woudln't risk it.

If you're high risk I would say, no rides. The trip alone will tax you. Just have fun with your family, enjoy the shows, enjoy the food.

I think this is great advice. I would also advise against the Transit Authority. ALthough you would assume it was a tame ride there was a corner where it whipped around and I actually bruised my hip. Other than Jungle Cruise or IASW, I don't think I would chance it with anything else.

We plan to attend all four parks.

In Epcot, I plan to ride spaceship earth, Universe of Energy, Innovations East and West, The Seas with Nemo, The Land, Imagination, the boat ride in Mexico and EO

Is Honey I shrunk the kids gone from Epcot? My map does not have it nor does it have anything for Wonders of Life.

In AK, I plan to ride Its tough to be a Bug, Flights of Wonder, and Tricera Top Spin

Thanks again for all the great advice

Captain EO with Michael Jackson took the place of Honey I Shrunk the Audience, temporary I believe. Everything on the list you just wrote you should be good to go.

Capt EO is back in theater which was showing Honey I Shrunk the Audience.

Wonders of Life is very "rarely" open seasonally. I haven't been to the F&GF yet this year (a few weeks until our next trip) but it may have some of the vendor talks in there again this year as it has in the past (just using the space for that purpose, but not having either the Body Wars ride or the Cranium Command, etc open). Someone who visited the F&GF already this past weekend might know.

I am not a mom yet, but I understand your worries and concerns. My personal opinion would be to stay away from rides where there could be jarring motions from boats hitting each other. In other words, the boat ride in Mexico and even ITASW. Maybe I am being too cautious, but that is just my humble opinion!

I may be thinking of the wrong ride but doesn't Triceratops Spin go up and down and is very bouncy like Dumbo?

I have no experience with pregnancy, but I just did want second mellvswdw1's comment and add in that while it's a small world is a fairly smooth ride, towards the end the boats tend to get jammed up with unloading/loading, so there is a bit of bumping around (boats knocking into each other, the boat bumping up the track to unload). This does happen in the ride in Mexico as well, but I've found it to be a lot more in IASW.

I had the same problem as you. We were supposed to go last November when I would have been 20 weeks pregnant. I had had 2 miscarriages and in the last year and my OB wasn't keen on my going, but cleared me if I took it easy. Well about 3 weeks prior to leaving, I started having contractions and had started dialating, so we had to cancel and I was on bed rest until last week when I finally reached 36 weeks and the baby is considered full term.

I wasn't going to attempt any rides that involved spinning, bumps or drops. So basically I would have gone on very mild rides and seen alot of the shows. Oh and we were also planning afternoon breaks everyday.

Hope that helps, oh and remember to keep hydrated.

It's not worth the risk. You will be a long way from home and an OB of your choosing. I'd get a scooter and take it easy. It is a long hot day in the parks and it is taxiing on a non-pregnant body. Is it possible to postpone the trip or make it more of a resort and meals type of trip? I know that's probably not what you want to hear but from a mom that had/has the same problems there is no ride in Disney that is as awesome as making it full-term!

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

This is a tough question, since you're high risk, but I would be somewhat less cautious than the other posters are. I think your ride list looks fine.

I have been to WDW pregnant before (18 weeks) and will be about 6 months pg on our upcoming trip . I plan to avoid the coasters, of course, and anything really bumpy or spinny. But Dumbo, IASW, Haunted Mansion, etc., are all pretty smooth. You can get bigger bumps stopping suddenly in traffic.

My OB is wonderful. We were pregnant at the same time with my first and she just returned from taking her kids on a Disney trip. She assured me there are plenty of rides I can do.

I had forgotten about the drop at the end of Pirates; therefore, was surprised when she mentioned it. It got me thinking what other rides have I forgotten the surprise twist or drop.

My son and I are ride junkies and I think he would be very disappointed if I rode nothing with him. I am able to work full time during my pregnancy and am a very active soccer mom. My OB knows me well, including my nightly walks with our 85 pound canine beast. The only change to my lifestyle she has ordered is to not allow my 4 year old to jump on me from a higher elevation than I am.

I really think I can ride some rides. And greatly appreciate the concerns and fully agree no ride is worth the pregnancy. I will see my OB again and will specifically ask about ITASW boat bumps, Dumbo and Buzz spins, and Backstage canyon quakes.
