We are going to WDW from June 30-July 5. I am expecting twins and will be just over 6 months when we go. I'm currently 19 weeks and haven't gained any weight, am not showing and am still wearing my regular work clothes, dresses, jeans...etc. I told DH that since we are having twins, I'm bound to be showing by the time we leave and will need probably need to get some maternity clothes. I've never been heavily pregnant during the summer (both of my boys were due in March) and don't typically show until the 8-month mark so this will be a new experiences for me. I'm trying to figure out what I should buy/wear. I hate my legs so usually wear capris instead of shorts ~ when we went to Disney in May of '08 I wore capris and short-sleeved or spaghetti-strapped shirts and was fine. I know it will be hotter this time so I'm wondering if sundresses would be a good option for a couple of days? It will just be DH, DS2 and myself so we'll be spending most of our time on rides appropriate for DS.

This post probably sounds silly but I've never had to really buy maternity clothes before. I always lose weight in the beginning of my pregnancies and don't gain much. With DS14, I lost enough weight that I could just wear my regular clothes as I got further along. With DS2, I bought two pairs of maternity pants, a pair of maternity jeans and a couple shirts ~ but mostly I was able to just buy clothes one size larger and they worked out fine.

Realize how lucky you are!!! Either way- I found being very pregnant in the middle of summer tough and I relied on sundresses. Shorts on pregnant me was downright scary. I did have a couple of cute lightweight capris that I liked, too. But nothing was better than the sundresses!:cool2:

I am going to second the sundresses. I think any kind of clinging fabric will drive you crazy fast. And also the OB nurse in me just wants to remind you to drink a ton of water. Dehydration can cause contractions, so follow your midwife/OB's advice for limits at the park and drink drink drink. Have a fantastic time. :)

WOW!!
You must be TINY.... lucky you :)

We just came back and I was at 31wks (looking like a beached whale). Honestly I had to stock up on sundresses (from Old Navy) and some tops and capris from motherhood maternity and target. Target has really decent maternity line.

dresses. do the dresses! My son was born in August and if I had been forced to wear anything clinging to my legs i would have dropped over at any time from June-August and I'm in the north so i cant imagine Florida. Do the dresses! oh ad the old navy jersey skirts are amazing

I can't seem to find a very big selection of maternity wear so I just end up getting shirts that are a little bigger. Empire tops are wonderful as there's plenty of room in the belly. I also love wearing capris and maxi dresses. With the dresses, I suggest wearing a pair of shorts underneath to prevent chafing.

31 weeks during June/July at WDW?

Wear as little as decently possible! :rotfl:

Not really clothes related, but think about your footwear too. I was literally barefoot and pregnant when I was expecting last summer and the lack of good footwear ruined my feet and I now think I have plantar fasciitis.

Although the idea of wearing tennis shoes and :scared1: SOCKS! :scared1: just makes me sweat.

Just something to think about......

Maybe buy some pieces in your size that are non-maternity, but stretchy? I.e. Hanna Andersson sells some roomy capri's.

If you don't typically show until 8 months, you will probably look like an early-singleton pregnancy by the time June rolls around where you can still get away with what you got away with up until 8 months the last time.

Roomy non-maternity dresses are a great idea! I had a Hawaiian dress (like a maxi, but the top was sleeveless) and I wore those all of the time. So comfy and good for not pregnant or pregnant.:thumbsup2

And I must say I am envious--twins and you still aren't showing. Yowsa!!!

I lost 14 pounds my first trimester with my last baby. First time that happened. I was wearing non-maternity for much longer than usual. And in some cases, I just bought a larger size non-maternity item. Very unusual for me.

Congratulations and have fun on your trip!

Thanks everyone! I had a doctor's appointment today (found out we're having one of each!!!) and stopped off at Ross on the way home ~ I found some really cute sundresses that are stretchy and lightweight. I think they will work out great so I'm going to go back and get some in the next couple of weeks. I also looked online at Old Navy and am going to order some capris. I'll have to play the shirt situation by ear and see how much I'm showing by the time we leave. I was thinking about the shoe situation too ~ that will require a bit more thought since I don't wear tennis shoes unless I'm at the gym. I live in flip-flops or sandals during the summer but they probably won't give me enough support with the amount of walking we'll be doing. I'll figure it out though! :)

I lived in flip flops. My feet don't go into sneakers unless it is the gym or by force. You can find a good flip flop or sandle and be fine. Bring the sneakers as back up. But I have done WDW several times while pregnant. No sneakers in summer for me! (Plus oddly, my feet are in more pain by wearing those sneakers all day. My feet like to stretch and breathe. :))

I was 8 months pregnant when we were there this month. I wore mostly sundresses, maxi dresses and capris and tank tops. And we spent part of every day at the water park so a bathing suit too.

I bought a pair of tevas for the trip and by day 3 I my legs hurt so much I could barely walk. I think it was because they are flat and I don't normally wear flat shoes. I switched back to a pair of wedge sandals I wear all the time at home and wore those for the rest of our 10 day trip and was much happier.

:goodvibesWe are going next week and I will be 21 weeks. I have had a steady growth of my bump so I will defeninately be in sundresses and shorts from ON, Target and Destination Maternity. One of my favorite sundresses is a dress that I bought last year at Target one size bigger and is perfect now and helps my b00bs look fantastic!!!!!

Just be comfortable. I went at 30 wks preggers and had a great time. I hate maternity clothes so I wore cropped black yoga pants with cute longer shirts. Worked great and I was cozy, yet still felt "cute". Have a great time!:cool1:

I've been to WDW twice while pregnant, at about 16 weeks, and then about 21 weeks. It was April & May so it wasn't as hot as July, but it was plenty hot. It was when I was pregnant that I also became a crocoholic. Around the 4 month mark my shoes started to stop fitting, so I decided to give crocs a shot. I haven't looked back, and I wear crocs 98% of the time now, and it's all I'll wear on my feet at the parks.

Congrats on your twins and try to stay cool on your trip!

Just a word of advice... I went to WDW in May 2009 (which was HOT that week...95-100 degrees every day) when I was 23 weeks pregnant. I was just barely into maternity clothes, and couldn't stand the thought of wearing the big over the belly panel shorts or capris in that heat. So I brought some sundresses. BIG mistake. My pregnant thighs rubbed together in the sweaty, humid heat, and I was MISERABLE the second day. I ended up wearing the same two pairs of stretchy athletic shorts that I just tucked under my belly over and over. I wore them with empire waist smocked tops or tank tops.

I also brought Crocs to wear, and after the first day, I realized that they absolutely do not offer the support you need to haul around the extra 20 pounds of baby weight. So I ended up back in my New Balance tennis shoes, and my feet/legs/knees/hips/lower back thanked me for it. Crocs were a godsend later in my pregnancy when my feet were too swollen for anything else, but they were not made for me to wear around WDW all day.

... My pregnant thighs rubbed together in the sweaty, humid heat, and I was MISERABLE the second day. ...

I'm sure you don't need it now but for future reference (and for other preggo mamas going to WDW on a hot season) you might want to try Body Glide.

Just a thought, my friend who's a runner swears by it.
I bought it for this past trip and it works pretty well. You just have to let your body temperature "melt" it after you apply the stuff before you'll notice the difference.

Old Navy and Target both carry these jersey type material skirts with a wide waistband you can roll over. LIVED in those when I was PG and they work for after too. For shoes- don't forget to consider the swelling factor. It's possible that on your feet all day, in that heat, with two babies in there- you may need a different pair of shoes for the end of the day then you do at the beginning!
