Can someone please advise me what rides I cannot ride at 16 weeks pregnant? I know some are obvious. Or maybe what could I ride at all Disney parks and what could I ride at Universal and IOA????
Thanks so much
Karen

Disney has much more that you will be able to do than IOA. Honestly I can only think of the suessosel and the red fish blue fish ride being the only things I could ride- oh and the walk through Titan thing(that was really cool!!)
In Universal there are plenty of Motion optional seats(like in Jimmy Neutron and Shrek) so you won't feel the motion but you will see the movie.
In Disney the only things I didn't go on were the obvious ones- the mountains, the tea cups(all that spinning yikes-- I was very nauseous so it wasn't even an option)
http://allearsnet.com/pl/pregnant.htm
has some info

They also have a page for Universal and IOA on that site- search ride restrictions.
Have a great time and congratulations!!

One at WDW that might not be so obvious to skip in my opinion would be Soarin'. Not for roughness or bouncing around, but for nausea reasons. The simulated motion combined with the scents that they spray into the air would have made me sick in an instant when I was pregnant. Plus it would have had a lingering effect on me the whole day. It wouldn't be worth ruining an entire day of my vacation for a 2 minute experience. But you should know what "triggers" you by now. If odors and dizziness haven't been a problem for you so far, maybe you would do just fine.

Last summer my DW was five month pregnant when we went. She did virtually everything except the rollar coasters, Tower of Terror, and Test Track. She did Soarnin several times with no problems. Relax and have fun, and do what feels comfortable.

Are there rides that are safer earlier in the pregnancy as opposed to later? As in--could you ride Space Mountain early in your pregnancy with no complications?

hopefully I will not get reemed for this . . . . . but (with doctor's permission) I rode pretty much everything, except TOT and RnR. I rode EE twice, splash, btmr, space, kali, TT, etc. my doctor told me to ride what i felt comfortable with, so i skipped what i felt i should. I was 11 weeks.

Ask your doctor, even if you're afraid of what they might say, there are many many variables that can affect a pregnancy and it's risks. . . .age, past pregnancy, health, weight, etc.

I'm going to post what I couldn't do this last trip because of a broken neck. Just about the same advice was for pregnancy.

Magic Kingdom - all three mountains, Speedway, Stitch's Great Escape (for the neck because of the harness - not sure about pregnancy)

Animal Kingdom - way too many - Expedition Everest, the Safari (it's VERY jerky), Kali River Rapids, Dinosaur, Primevil Whirl

MGM - Twilight Zone and Rock N Roller Coaster

Epcot - Test Track, the orange version of Mission:Space, Maelstrom is a maybe (I avoided).

Now, given the warnings and your decision, also know that you can go through the preshow stuff and then leave right before the actual ride. In my case, I could have done almost everything at Rock N Roller Coaster but opted out while my husband did a FastPass and it took 15 minutes (over Memorial Day weekend). For Twilight Zone, we did the library and the boiler room together and then I took the Express Elevator out while he plunged.

Have fund and make your decisions based on the attraction. But most of the time, you can do 90% and then leave.

We went in May with DD who was about 19 weeks at the time. Her MD told her that she could do almost everything. She did TT and Soarin', did not do mountains, EE, TOT. She did do the Safari, and I was very uncomfortable with that. It just felt way too bumpy and jerky and it worried me. That being said, everything is fine and a normal uncomplicated pregnancy continues.

I would do just what your md says. I went when I was 4 months pregnant but overdid and started having contractions. I forgot to rest but all turned out well. I sat for 2 days and we made a 2 day trip home instead of 1 day and they finally stopped. I advise everyone to have lots of fun but remember not to overdo. :thumbsup2

I was at the end of my 6th month when I went to WDW. Since I played volleyball during my whole pregnancy my MD said I could ride anything that didn't have a G-force. Ask your MD.

I visited at 5 months along.

Attractions I avoided:

Splash, Space, and Thunder Mountians
Expedition Everest
Kilamanjaro Safari
Star Tours
Body Wars
Dinosaur
Tower of Terror
Rocknroller Coaster

Pregnancy, in normal cases, is a VERY "secure" thing. Shakiness, jerking, spinning, it isn't gonna "shake the fetus loose" or anything! :rotfl2:

The best thing to do is to ask you doctor. If you have a healthy, low risk pregnancy, chances are they will tell you to simply avoid anything with a "g-force".

Of course, the DISboards are not a replacement for your doctor's opinion!

(But we all know you are just trying to "get and idea" as to how you could be restricted. :) )

I went when I was 5 and 1/2 months pregnant and had a great time at disney and sea world. i just avoided all the ones with a warning on them. i still had a blast. now universal was diffrent i was sooo bored because there was so little for me to do. i just sat and waited while hubby did everything. wasn't very fun for me.

You are probably not going to be able to ride anything at IOA. There are still several things you could do at Universal (mainly shows). There will be more for you to do at the Disney parks.

I went this past December at 27-29 weeks and I pretty much followed Disney's recomendations except that I went on the Safari. The CMs were a bit concerned and made us sit in the front seat; the driver told me he would tone down the bumpiness (who knows if that is something he has control over or not!). I also rode Soarin' though I can't remember if it is recommended in PG or not. In any case, I nearly got sick and had to keep my eyes squeezed shut the entire time. It might have just been me, the movement was very gentle.

I just returned from Disney yesterday, I am 24 weeks pregnant and we only did MK but my doctor said to go by the warnings, but I did not do any of the mountains. And would not of done Test Track, Mission Space, Kali, Everest, TOT or Rocking Roller Coaster. I still had plenty to do. Just remember to take your time becasue my feet are still swollen and we took our time arounf the park. Good Luck.

I am 15 weeks pg now, and will be 17 or 18 weeks (third baby, I can't keep track of the weeks this time around) when we're in Disney. Thanks to this thread, I talked to my OB about our upcoming trip, and she was great! She knew a lot about Disney rides, and said essentially said to stay away from the really really jerky rides, because they can have the same impact on your body as a minor car accident would have. She gave the green light to Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, ToT, Kali River Rapids, and some others (pregnancy brain ... I can't remember.) I get more motion sickness when I'm pg than not, so this might not appeal to me when we get there, but I'm excited nonetheless.

She said she wasn't sure about EE - I think I'll let DH ride it and give me a report. I'm ruling out Test Track, Dinosaur, BTMM, and a few others based on her reccomendation.

rutgers1995......
Oh My God!! I can't believe she would give you the go ahead on Space MOuntain, and especially the TOT........I wouldn't do it if I were you the G-force would scare me. I would be so afraid I'd hurt the baby.
Thats crazy!!! LOL
Good luck with whatever you decide and please come back and post to this thread when you get back to let us know what you did for rides.
