Any newly pregnant women go to Disney? How did you fare? Any advice?

I think I was about half-way there last October when we went. We had a nice time. I did not have morning sickness so that helps. I went on most rides that do not have warnings although I also did ride Splash Mountain. I was on the tired side most of the pregnancy but didn't really feel it too much down there.

I think good advice is to pace yourself and not try to do too much.

One thing I enjoyed was observing all the families with babies - knowing that that would be us soon! We checked out people's strollers, the changing rooms, just had a good time observing! Now we are going with our 8 month old in less than 2 months...it's alot more nerve-wracking than going when pregnant! :goodvibes

Enjoy!

I was only a few weeks along when I went back in Dec. '02. I was probably "overcautious", but I steered clear of all of the fast and jerky rides (anything that had a pregnancy warning). I did have morning sickness (more like "morning-noon-and-night sickness"), but not severe. Just enough to turn me off to most dining options. My poor husband ate counter service most of the time because I would look at the menu at the sit down restaurants and everything sounded so gross to me. And, ugh, the smell of "Disney water"--you know what I mean, that distinct smell on all of the water rides and the fountains :crazy2: I thought that would put me over the edge! Overall, I had a nice time, though. I just felt a little "off" from my usual self. I was very careful to stay hydrated and I rested when I didn't feel well.

I went at 5 months pregnant and had a great time. I did sit down a lot more and had to sit out the big rides, but I was fine with it. It was our last trip with just our older two children so I didn't have a stroller or any baby gear and I was so relaxed. Just take it easy, stay hydrated, and have fun!
Congrats! :flower:

Congratulations!!!

I went with my First pregnancy, I was about 4 months along!!! And boy did I have morning sickness!! We did Epcot that year and I pretty much stayed clear of all jerky or fast rides!! I did remember eating everything!!! It was the trip known as the eating trip cause all my pics show me eating!!! I was a little tired towards the end but had fun anyway!!!
I would say pace your self, Dont try to do it all and take lot of breaks just to sit and enjoy!!!! And You gotta love the food!!!

I drove 11 hours on my own to Disney and met up with my grandparents there when I was 13 weeks pregnant with my first child (my husband was deployed). I was very very sick, in and out of the hospital a lot, lost a ton of weight, couldn't keep a single thing down. It was the worst time of my life, but I went to Disney anyway. The whole time I was in Disney I felt fine!!! It was like a miracle cure. Then I drove 11 hours back home and immediately got severe morning sickness again which continued for months.

In April 04, I went when I was 9 weeks along. I have VERY tough pregnancies. I brought my morning sickness meds and held out for the duration of the trip. The day we got home I had to start getting IV fluids to keep me hydrated (for 4 weeks).

My suggestions:
*If the ride gives a warning for prego's, it is not worth the risk...stay off! (there will be plenty of time to bring Db to the parks)
*Drink...Drink... Drink (water that is) :)
*Rest, even if you don't feel really tired
*Go back to your room for a nap everyday! (get used to it, when Db comes you will be doing this anyway).

Enjoy yourselves! If this is your 1st, make sure to take note of what a wonderful time your will have with your soon to be family!

Sounds exactly like me. That's why I stopped at 2 kids!

Call me crazy... We want 1 more. I just have to space them apart a bit. You NEVER forget, but time heals the memory...

BUT they are for sure worth every second of it! :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc

We found out I was pregnant the week before we left for Disney in 2002. I was about 6-7 weeks along at the beginning of our trip. Our DD was 4 at the time, and wasn't tall enough for any of the thrill rides, so that wasn't an issue. I did ride everything she was able to do and didn't have any ill effects. Drink lots of water and rest if you're not feeling up to the trek. We ended up taking this trip much slower than usual because of that lovely morning sickness. The worst of it was taking the boat from the Wilderness Lodge to the Magic Kingdom first thing in the morning. I won't ever be doing that again. :crazy2:

Congratulations to you! :)

Congratulations!!!

I am actually in the same boat as you. When are you going to Disney and how far along are you?

We are going 5 weeks from Friday, and I will be 15 weeks when we go. I posted a similar question when I first found out we were pregnant. I got alot of helpful advive and kind words. Basically everyone kept saying if you need to rest, then rest. Don't push yourself and drink lots of water! No problem there since I love water!

Also, I am going to avoid the roller coasters, but there are a few rides that have cuations that I am going to ask my doctor about tomorrow, like Buzz Light Year. We were just there and I do not feel that the ride moves you around that much.

I think I have been more concerned about what clothes I can wear than anything else. :rotfl: At 15 weeks, I do not know what summer clothes I should or can even fit into. So far I am in my regular clothes.

Again, congratulations and let us know when you are going to Disney and how far along you are! :flower:

LOL, me too! I'll be 20 weeks when we go, and I had to buy summer maternity clothes just for one week in Florida. :rotfl:

Congratulations to you! Remember to rest and drink plenty of fluids, and I'm sure you'll be fine!

I'm in the same boat as you. Found out that I'm expecting about a month after we booked. We leave in 10 days and I will be about 11 weeks along. I plan to stay away from the big roller coasters, but will do Splash Mtn and a few other lighter rides (that may or not have the prego warnings). Just check with your doctor to make sure...

10 days to go (and just told DD11 this morning, which is her birthday!)

When we leave on the 24th, i'll be 7 months pregnant!!! Yes, i'm crazy! lol
But the really hard thing that i have noticed with this pregnancy vs. my first is that now i have a 3 year old to contend with....omg i'm tired! lol

We plan to nap hopefully every day (we need our rest..lol) I have always been a drinker (fluids that is..) and since i cant ride much (restrictions or they just plain make me sick) i plan to sit and enjoy for ONCE while at disney!! It is DH's turn to entertain our DD!! :teeth:
