I will be 14 weeks pregnant when we visit Disney in November. Would you guys consider all the ride safe for children also safe for me? (Dh and I were debating Barnstormer).

If anyone has been in that phase of pregnancy, I would love to hear how you felt, ect.

Thanks! princess:

I have been to Disney pregnant with all 3 of my children at 6 weeks, 6 months & 7 months pregnant. I would not ride any roller coasters. There is a sign for the safari at animal kingdom that pregnant people should not ride, but I did all three times and its really no different than riding on a bumpy road in a car. I would skip Test Track too. I think all other kid friendly rides would be fine.

I just got back from DW and I am 26 weeks pg. I wouldn't necessarily think that just because it is safe for children that it would be safe for you. Barnstormer I believe is the kids roller coaster at MK if so than I think it would be a litle rough and wouldn't ride it pg. It does tend to jerk a lot and the bar come across the admomenal area. I also wouldn't ride the tea cups but more for the sickness factor! I did ride rides like peter pan, buzz light year etc and had no problems at all. I also rode the safari ride AK and it is a little bumpy but not a huge concern in my opinion. I hope you have a great time. I enjoyed myself even if I was pg.

a little bump :cool1:

I am going 10/13 -23 and I will be 19 weeks preggo. My OB said that anything that the little ones can do should be fine. With the exception of the spinning teacups and perhaps the barn stormer. She said that I should avoid anything that stops suddenly or spins fast. (Dumbo goes around but that is okay)

I've pretty much resigned to myself that I will be lying low this time. :sad2: There is a lot that we CAN do though. We can watch the kids while our husbands ride the Rockin' Roller Coaster! :rotfl: No really there is more that we can do than what we can't do. My Ob even thought the family raft ride at BB will be okay. (They let one year olds on that and it is FUN!)

I too would love to hear about other preg mom's experiences! :wizard:

I went at 24 weeks and had a great time, DH and I actually selected our DS's name at Downtown Disney while looking at the engraved nametags, it was fun to go back four years later with DS and buy him the nametag. On that return trip I rode Barnstormer with DS then 4, I would not ride that, I agree, it is very jerky. I would stick with the recommedations from Disney, I did not ride the safari, but many people including DH said it would have been fine. I did ride Alien Encounter (now the Stitch ride) and several people in line asked me if I should be riding it. But I had been on it before and knew what I was in for.

Have a great time and don't forget to but a little t shirt or something for the baby.

I wouldn't let being preggers stop me but then I rode on back of harley the full 9 months including a 500 mile ride 4 days before having last one NO that was not what threw me into labor my induction was already planned.

I just found out I am PG. We are going to change our WDW plans to JAN. from May. I think I'll be about the beginning of 2nd Trimester. This is our first trip. I hope all goes weel. My DD will be so let down otherwise! :guilty: So I hope people post some great ideas here.

I went at 12 weeks and had a great time. All the kids rides were fine. I also didn't do the safari, but my husband said I would have been fine. One thing I will note about the safari, though - we went last Spring when it had rained a bit, and we took one safari ride that I would not have liked at all if I was pregnant. VERY bumpy.

I have not been pregnant, but was wondering...Would anyone ask their Dr. what would be safe to ride?

I was at another theme park and went on the big swing ride while pregnant. I thought that would be okay since it is just a gentle spinning around. The thing that was REALLY bad was that when you are pregnant, your ankles can get a little swollen. Imagine all the fluid in your legs trying to settle in your feet because it is like you are on a giant centrifuge. That was the most uncomfortable sensation ever experienced in a park!

slduck-- Congrats! DW, DS and I will be at WDW the week of Oct. 30 and she will be 20 weeks at the time. Her OB said to just use common sense. He said the "do not ride if pregnant" warnings are there more to protect Disney than to protect moms and their babies (and as a lawyer, I can tell you he's right). Obviously, roller coasters are probably out. Some rides have warnings and I think it's questionable whether they're safe or not safe, i.e., test track and soarin'.

Congrats! I was at WDW when I was 24 weeks pregnant with my son in Nov. 2001. I did ride the safari at AK and it was fine. MAke sure to keep water handy and plan to rest! As you are going with a little one you will probably stay away from the big thrill rides anyway, so it is not as if you will miss much. Enjoy!
