My wife and I recently found out that we are going to be parents of twins and the expected due date is in early December. We have a vacation booked for September 12-18. She will be 27-28 weeks pregnant at the time. We are wondering has anyone been during this part of the pregnancy? and if they took any special precautions?

Congratulations! :banana::banana:

The biggest factor will be the heat. Make sure she finds cool places to stop & rest, and put her feet up. Hopefully the Tomorrowland Transit Authority will be running then. A few spins on that should give her a nice break.

Other than that, and a daily nap, there are quite a few rides that she should avoid. All of the "mountains" for example. There are usually signs posted for rides that may be too jerky or intense for pregnant moms-to-be.

Have a blast and enjoy this vacation before your lovely twins arrive!

Many of the attractions will be no problem at all.

All attractions with ride motions that might exacerbate medical conditions have warning signs outside the entrances, at several points in the queue, and right before boarding.

All attractions allow you to decide not to ride, even after you have walked thru the queue.

Here is a list of those rides with Attraction Warnings-

Congrats! Lots of women have gone pregnant. The fact that your wife is pregnant with twins may or may not effect going to WDW at 28 wks pregnant. It depends on how her pregnancy is and what the OB says is ok. I could not travel in my pregnancy because I was on bedrest. If she is fine and no issues she should be able to go but will need lots of breaks and to tour slowly.Thrill rides are out. It all really depends on how her pregnancy progresses and what the OB says.

A singleton pregnancy would probably be no problem other than not going on rides, but with twins, she's definitely going to want to ask her OB. I believe you measure about 4 weeks ahead with twins, so she'd be roughly the size of someone 31-32 weeks. I'm currently there now and I can tell you, there's no way I'd want to be trekking through Disney right now. Not only could she not go on the rides, she'd probably be uncomfortable in the heat and walking all day.

Congrats on the twins though! You're going to have your hands full but I bet it will be a lot of fun :)

but I am the mother of twins!

I really would recommend that you either go before your wife hits 20 weeks, or after the twins are born (6 months -12 months is a GREAT time to take babies to Disney)

Here's why I recommend this:

1. I really started to slow down after 20 weeks. Most moms of twins will tell you that your wife's belly will really explode at this point. By 24 weeks, even a short trip through Target was tough for me.

2. September is HOT in central Florida. I would really worry about dehydration. Dehydration can lead to premature labor. Do you really want to spend time in the ER while your wife has to rehydrate and have labor halted?

3. My OB told me to have everything done that I'd like to personally do before 28 weeks, as she said that twin moms tend to be put on bedrest at that time. Sure enough, I was on bedrest at 27w5d for the remainder of my twin pg.

I really think going at this point in a twin pg is a bad idea. Too much can happen between now and then, and the stress on her body from touring the parks may be too much for the babies. I'd definately try to move up your dates or wait until your twins are born and on a schedule. We took our twins at 6 months and it was the easiest trip we ever had with them.

Best of luck to you with the pregnancy, delivery and twinfantdom. Having twins has been the most amazing experience I have ever had (it's better than anything in Disney, but shhh ... don't tell everyone around here that little secret :))

Personally I would not go during this time. It is really really really hot in September. Did I say really hot. I cant imagine how she would have fun in that heat carrying twins and being that far along.

I would say go earlier in the pregnancy as already suggested above or wait till they are around 9 months before going.

I dont think she will have fun, and if you speak with my DH he would tell you, if she is miserable you will be too;)

Congratulations! I went to WDW when I was 7 months pregnant. I did pretty well but my back and feet were killing me at night after a full day of walking. I'm not sure I could have managed it with twins. The weather can be brutally hot in September. Check with your OB and consider your wife's physical condition and tolerance to heat. Good luck!

I was only 10 weeks pregnant with twins (didn't know it was 2 at that point) when I went with my 2 yr old and lots of extra adults. By 28 weeks I don't think I could have done it. By 32 weeks, during a hot New England summer I had people in grocery stores looking at me pretty funny for being out and about!
If it's at all possible, go now or wait til after the babies are born. We took the twins for the first time when they were 18 months. Life is crazy with twins but it's just as crazy at home as it is in WDW! Just be sure to enlist a few spare adults to join you. (doting grandparents, aunts and uncles come in really handy!)

I have twins and at 28 weeks there is no way in the world I could have done Disney! At 32 weeks I wasn't even supposed to go more than 1 hr from home, and that was ONLY if I stopped to get out and walk for 15 minutes. I wasn't high risk either (only the high risk of a multiple pregnancy, anyway ;)) I would definitely either move your trip or postpone until after the babies arrive...we waited until they were about 3.5 months.

Congratulations!!

my wife is 14 weeks and we leave next week for disney! Our original trip was scheduled for end of Sept, but we thought that she wouldn't enjoy it!

me 2!!! i too am pregnant & going in september! i will be 31 weeks pregnant when we go to disney 9/6-9/13!!! we were originally going in late september/early october but i moved it up a few weeks! although my pregnancy is a single i am still nervous about it. my doctor said unless there are complications later in the pregancy i should be fine. he is going to give me a copy of my records that i will need in case there's an emergency while there. i am also going to look up an obgyn close to wdw that is under my health plan....just in case. congrats & try not to worry!!!

Congratulations!

However, I second what everyone else has said about maybe moving the trip earlier if you can? I am going to Disney pregnant next week but only carrying one and I'll be about 15-16 weeks. I am already nervous of the fatigue!

Last pregnancy, we went to Chicago for the weekend when I was about 32 weeks (probably what your wife will feel like at 28 weeks) and I was miserable, having contractions and I couldn't walk or keep up b/c the baby had dropped already (even though I didn't have him until 38 weeks). I ended up dehydrated and in preterm labor the monday we returned. Scared my hubby to death. We've decided that travel that late in pregnancy is just no fun. We had spent a lot of money on concert tickets and tickets to see King Tut and other things and I just hated it all. The crowds pushing on my belly...the heat...the noise...I was really mad at myself for thinking it would be okay. (It was also September and hot, and we were in chicago).

If you do go then, I would suggest one of those little scooters or whatever to help her keep up without wearing out. I know that seems silly, but I am a long-legged powerwalking marathon runner in my non-pregnant life. I was struggling to keep up with my obese, slow, old(er) in-laws at 32 weeks. It was quite annoying.

I hope whatever you choose that you have a wonderful time and that you have two healthy happy little babies (long after your trip to Disney)!

Thank you everyone for the well wishes! This has been very helpful! We are looking to move it up right now. We were told that we should be ok (as long as there is nothing that comes up before then) to go. We have definately decided to rent a scooter if we go. We have gone several times in September and realize that there are going to be many breaks and less go go go. We just wanted one last run in the sun before the little ones hit but nothing that would jeopardize thier eventual health!!

Did you consider rent a wheel chair? She could use it during the hottest times of the day and keep swelling in her feet down, etc...

I'm going to be 22 weeks pregnant when we go in a few weeks. Although not having twins!
Congrats

I'm also going pregnant. I will be 28-29 weeks at the end of May when we take our trip (only one baby in there). I just keep telling myself that we'll need to take lots of breaks and a good sized midday break. We have two other children (5 and 3) and I'm sure they'll need a break too.

Good luck :-)

Nothing is more magical than the birth of your children. Why take any risks? Disney will always be there.

Take it easy, keep cool, and spend lots of time in the pool!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That sounds wonderful and I really hope that whatever you decide to do that u have a great time!
My recommendation would be, if you can't move up the date any earlier, to go some place other than disney b4 the babies come.

I DEF agree that it's super important to have one last hoorah b4 babies are born, and you might just wanna look into something more laid back and nice and close to home or something. Even just a nice spa trip or resort/hotel where there's a whole lot of nothing to do.
But anyways- that's just my opinion- but even if you do disney- you'll do a modified version and it'll still be a blast.
Here's hoping to be able to move the date up!

I am 20 weeks preggers now and I couldn't imagine going to Disney, especially in September!! The heat is awful. I would advise taking it SLOW! Lots of fluids and I think renting a wheelchair would be great, because that is alot of walking and I would worry about her overdoing it or feet and legs swelling!
