Hi all
Well things aren't running too smoothly anymore.
I have just been released from Woman's College Hospital after a week of hospitalized bedrest and fetal monitoring.
I have beenhave regular contractions and am 1 cm dilated. Luckily it has progressed no further after a week of continous contractions so they let me continue bedrest at home.
I am going nuts plus it is sooo hard to do with Ryleigh and all her needs. My folks have pitched in and my husband is a saint but he looks worn out and my folks are in their 70's. The hospital would like Ry in care but that will NOT happen.
Wish I was at Disney!!!
Suzanne

At least, you have people around you to help you. In my case, it wasn't like that. My husband wasn't a saint at all... You're very blessed, did you know that?

I don't know what a RY is, but shouldn't you listen to the doctors?

Take care,
Brigitte

Big  and pd coming your way - good luck with everything, and your husband does sound like a wonderful man.

And an extra hug for DD Ryleigh!

Thanks for the support gang.

Scratch could you please update the"repo cruise" people for me.. I forgot to and so many people were supportive on that board. I really miss them.

Ryleigh is my severely disabled 8 year old daughter but we call her RY or The BUG for short!

I will pray for you and your family.

I understand fully not wanting to place your daughter in temporary care of some sort but have you considered:

SSAT (special services at home) through Ministry of Social Services. If you qualify, they will send someone in to work with your daughter (and this would give you some quiet time)

Community Living - They offer a respite program (sending your child to a respite house for a weekend or whatever). This was offered for my daughter. I was not interested in it but I wonder if you contacted Community Living, I wonder if they could send a worker to your home who could take care of your child for a few hours while you had some quiet time.

Home Care - I wonder if your doctor could get you some (they come in and will watch your daughter, make a quick meal) while you have some quiet time.

I have just thought of these services off the top of my head and don't know if you are interested or if you would qualify, but maybe you could consider them. Community Living might also know of an Access Center in your area who might be able to offer something that might assist you.

Maybe some others on this board might have some other ideas.

I'm sorry Tigger2on, I didn't know.

Do the best you can and take care of yourself but most of all, keep the faith.

Hi Suzanne,

I hope that you're getting the rest you need and that everything will work out fine. I will be praying for you and your family.

As far as wishing you're at Disney. I'm with you on that every day of the year. do you have the vacation DVD. Put it in and think of the time when you'll be able to take Ry and the new baby there to see Mickey and all our friends.:wave2:

Take care and I'm sending lots of pixie dust your way!!

Hi Suzanne,
Just wanted to add my support and good wishes for you and your family! Your DH sounds like a sweetheart and you are lucky to have such a supportive family! We'll all think positive thoughts and send lots of pixie dust your way! Good luck!

It sounds like you have a lot of people who love you, helping you out, Suzanne. :sunny:

My best wishes (and a prayer) that things progress smoothly for you now. A {{{{ Hug }}} too!

Lots of Pixie Dust in your direction! As you know, our older child (DS, now 7) is also severely disabled; he suffered a placental abruption way down at 38 weeks, so the diagnosis is CP.

Meanwhile, our DD was born waaay early, at 27 weeks, about where you are. While that is far from ideal, and she did end up staying in Hospital for 11 more weeks, she has by now grown into be a perfectly normal and healthy little girl, now 5 (with beautiful red hair, like Daddy and big brother). My wife's problem in DD's case was dumb old food poisoning (Lysteria  ), rather than premature labour that you are going thru. We did have some help while DD was in Hospital, but were able to manage OK, tho very busy; of course DS was only two at the time, much smaller than your Ryleigh is now.

Take it easy and let yourself be taken care of. Perhaps some sort of home health aide might work well (we now have one 25 hrs a week for DS, and she's a Godsend!). I expect any sort of short term institutionalization of the Bug would be just too stressful on both you and her; but any sort of extra help you can get from DH from parents (even older ones like yours and mine) is good for baby. No heavy lifting now; get someone else to do that.

Best of luck!

Sending pixie dust your way for everyone. Your DH sounds like a saint. Be sure to keep him!

You are in my thoughts Suzanne, that all goes well for the rest of your pregnancy. I know that all the Pixie Dust from us and the love that surrounds you will get you and your family through this stressful time. Take care.

More  and PD coming your way. I will keep you all in my prayers. Take care of yourself ... I know that's difficult to do.

Hang in there and good luck - hope everything works out. We miss you over at the Ship of Fools!

Lots of PD to you - and I second the no heavy lifting - not sure if you have to help DD to bed/washroom etc but TRY not to if you possibly can. And if it works out, the in-home care (if it's an option) may be a real help!! Best of luck to you - keep us posted when you can. PS - you daughter's name is really beautiful.
