As we've broken the two month mark, DW and I are starting to get serious about planning, and are now doing our touring sheets. DW will be six months pregnant during our June visit. We're aware of the "hazzard" attractions, such as Space Mountain, ToT, etc. But there's a couple areas on which we're foggy. So I'd like to hear from those who've been pregnant in Disney on the following items.

#1 Splash Mountain. Although this is marked as a precaution ride, having been on it we don't see the big deal. Are we missing something? It would be nice to hear from a woman who rode SM while pregnant and later had a healthy baby.

#2 What are the limitations at DisneyQuest?

#3 Are the big waves in the pool at TL a problem?

Thanks so much. Any general opinions on being pregnant in WDW and any tips on things we've probably not thought of would be appreciated!

Pat

I was there when I was 6 mos preg. My advice is don't do anything thats not normally part of your routine. Hence the wave pool. I would swim everyday in the pool or go to the beach when I was preg...so I didn't think the wave pool was a big deal. Check w/ her dr..is she high risk? how old is she? I was young (early 20's) and not high risk. Disney Quest for the most part is okay...as long as you don't ride on anything that bumps into anything else. If it was me I would probaly not ride on anything. Its not worth the risk IMO.

Have her check with the doctor. He can definitely add to what she can and can't ride.

P.S. Congrats on both the baby and the trip :p

I have done splash M on 3 of 5 of my preg. I had healthy babies but I also had my DR.s ok. I did not ride it in Feb becouse this is my 5 th and Dr said no. I have never done DQuest so I have no idea. I was just told my DR about my upcomming May trip and he said No tea cups or any ride with cem. force. but any other except the obvous are ok with my DR. He is a AP holder and DVC owner so he allways limits what I do to the month I am in. I think you should do what she is comfortable doing. Make sure to eat one nice dinner a day so she can get some veggies and take a rest! Have a good trip!:D

I'm currently 23w4days pregnant with our first child. :) We went to WDW the first week of March when I was 18-19 weeks pregnant. I did not ride Splash Mountain, even though it's my favorite! I didn't want to take a chance. Anything that had a warning, I didn't ride. Of course...I think the bus ride to and from the resort was sometimes worse than some of the rides.

We went to Disney Quest in 2000, so I'm not really sure how much it has changed. She won't be able to do Cyber Space Mountain since that one flips you around. I would assume even some of the attractions there would have warning if necessary.

Didn't do a water park so I can't help you w/ that one!

DH and I really enjoyed our trip even though I couldn't ride some of our favorites. We did have to sit and rest more than normal, so that really made for a relaxing trip. And, of course, we spent about twice as much on water and snacks this time. ;) And then there was all the baby stuff! LOL! Thankfully, before we went, we didn't know what we were having...otherwise we would have spent a fortune...but almost everythign was pink or blue so that hindered my shopping. :)

Thanks for the tips! Unfortunately, we will know the gender by June. We're doing our nursery in Pooh. Normally, we're not big on suveniers (we prefer to leave our money in the restaurants), but this time, oh boy. And we're taking the car, so we can haul a lot. Guess I'll take a deep breath and an empty credit card into Pooh Corner and hope common sense rules...

March 03 - with pregnant DW 6 months

She did not go on any rides that had advice or seemed too high.

Having said that we did go on the Tea Cups but did not turn the cup around at all.

Went on KS in AK (know question was MK but thought useful to add) and rode in the front which is the most stable - the CM put us there intentionally after a quick discussion

Cannot help with #2

As for #3, I would say it depends on your swimming ability - do not see the possible harm to the baby unless there was reasonable chance of harm to you

Thanks

Splash Mountain can stop very suddenly (not a daily occurance, but an operational possiblity). That, coupled with the steep drops makes it a smart thing to avoid.
As for DisneyQuest, you should be fine doing everything except for: AstroBlaster, CyberSpace Mountain, Mighty Ducks' Pinball Slam and Virtual Jungle Cruise.
Pirates, Incas, Aladdin, Comix, Invasion, and all the arcade/create games should be fine (of course, you should check with your OB and heed all warnings at the individual attractions).

back in the mid 70's a co-worker and his wife went to WDW when she was about 6 1/2 months pregnant. They wolud not let her on IASWAA because of the slight drop as the boat makes the first turn to enter the ride. LOL

I was at WDW 6 years ago while 6 months pregnant with my youngest. I was dumb and did not heed some of the warnings. I realize now what a big gamble that was. I now realize after being put to bed quite suddenly with this pregnancy that each day that something doesn't go wrong is a blessing! I will be in my 6th month when we go next month and will be heeding all the warnings. (I'm paranoid that some wrong twist will make the baby's placenta tear away again!) There is no way I am going in the wave pool at TL as I have been knocked down by it on many occasions!!!That was one of the first things that came into my mind that I wouldn't do when I planned this trip. I'm going to stick that big belly of mine through one of the holes in an innertube and float my day away on the lazy river!!!!!! :D

I would not go on any mountains. Pirates ?. ToT No. RNR No. Star Tours and Body Wars No. Kaili Falls No. I would pospone your trip until after the baby comes then you would be able to be more flexable about the trip. I hope this helps.

I would definitely check with her Dr. and heed that advice. I went to Disneyland at 6 weeks pregnant (definitely different then 6 months). Stayed off all the mountains - including Splash. The drop puts a lot of g forces on you. I did ride Pirates and the Haunted Mansion and most of the Fantasyland rides. I used the guideline that anything with a height restriction was probably out. If it was safe for an infant to go on, then it was probably okay for me. I would not recommend the wave pool since her balance is probably a little off anyway and there is a chance she could get knocked over.

Congrats on your pregnancy! I was in WDW in 1990 when I was 6 mos along with #3.

I'd skip the wave thing at the water park.I have never been to Disney Quest so I can't say. I've never been pregnant on Splash Mountain, but I'd tend to lean towards NO on this too. Check with her OB though.

I think it'll be nice to have a trip like this alone before the baby comes! If she can't go on a few rides, there's so much to do that you won't miss too much! If she's the sympathetic type and you really want to do Tower of Terror or Spalsh Mountain, just pick a time of day that she won't have to wait too long for you!

THere are a few things to keep in mind for a pregnant woman: really good, broken in sneakers, drinking lots of water, take rest periods, and elevate your feet whenever you're resting! A nice soak in the pool at the end of the day or during an afternoon break or before a nap can recharge you! Have a wonderful trip!!:Pinkbounc

I went to WDW twice while pregnant--all of the advice you have gotten is very good. The key is to use common sense. The warnings are in place for your safety, sometimes that isn't so easy to remember :( I can't remember the specific reason that Splash is a no-no...something about the force and angle of the drop, maybe? Another ride at the MK people forget is a no-no is the tomorrowland speedway, those bumps from behind and be very abrupt.

I rode the KS both times without any problems--there was a monan 8 months along in the seat in front of me, LOL...

Make sure you rest your feet, drink plenty of water, eat small meals, and get out of the heat occasionally....you'll have a great time!

Deb's site also has a section about pregnancy touring as well.
