Pregnancy celebration?

I am not sure if this is in the right place to post this...

But I am bringing my best friend to Disney World on Monday for her first time ever (she's 27) and she found out she was pregnant! Now besides the fact that it will hinder her rides - is there a button (like the Just Married ones) at the park for something like that? Any suggestions for how I should surprise her to celebrate? It was a long time coming, its her first one, and I am already deemed godmother...so I feel like I have to celebrate! And, it will be her only time ever going without children now!

I looked at the Disney surprises that they put in your resort upon revival but none of them fit right - and I want to do more than flowers.

I don't know if this is still the case but the last time I was at WDW there were a lot of people with buttons that just said "I'm Celebrating". I don't know if these are replacing the other one's you could get or not but I hope not. I doubt they have one about pregnancy specificly but maybe they do have a "celebration" one still. HTH

As far as the actual celebrating, I would try to focus on shows or some really great meals. Also, shopping, maybe surprise her with some Disney things for the new baby. Have fun!

If she just found out, and isn't showing yet, she should be fine on any of the rides at WDW. (Though obviously she should confirm this with her doctor first, rather than trusting the advice of a random stranger on the internet. ) The only limitation is that if she suffers from pregnancy nausea ("morning" sickness) then some of the wilder rides might make it worse.

Take her out to dinner one night at a signature restaurant. My favorite signatures are Citricos, Jiko and California Grill. It's unlikely at this point, but maybe you could score a window table at the California Grill during Wishes one night.

I still would not ride any of the attractions that are very bumpy or have lots of spinning. Usually those are the ones with the height requirement. It is not worth the risk.

It might be fun to get her teeny-tinny Mouse Ears for her future child

and I am sure you can have fun with her with regards to how she got with child
-"riding space mountain"
- "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride"
- etc.

There is no risk on bumpy or spinning amusement park rides for women who are early in their pregnancies (first trimester, even second trimester unless it's a high-risk pregnancy). Our obstetrician was clear about that when we checked with him. But again, this is something that the OP's friend should check with her doctor on, rather than trusting anybody here.

Ohmygosh, she would love the double meaning with the rides... that's hilarious! And I was going to do the mouse ears thing, but they aren't sure on a name (or the sex) and I want the first ones to be personalized...

PS: She is very newly pregnant, and will be consulting with her physician on Thursday... but I know she will be staying off the wilder rides anyways - they worked too hard for this little pumpkin to take even the remotest risk...!

I got an "I'm celebrating" button when I went for my graduation in May. At the resort they wrote "Graduation" on the button since they did have specific ones for graduation. You could get one of those from the resort and write "Becoming a Mommy" or something like that on it. The only specific buttons I've seen the last couple of times we went were for first visits, birthdays, just married, anniversary and engagement.

As for something, there is someone on here that does gift baskets, and if I remember correctly she does a larger variety than what is available through the Disney florist. You could try a search and see if you come up with her username, or perhaps someone will know it and post it. I'm sorry I can't remember it.

kinda related - my wife found out we were expecting our first while we were on vacation in Virginia and planned to go to Bush Gardens ... and they have way higher a % of thrill rides there


- oh, and another double meaning ride: "Splash" mountain
