Pregnancy after Vasectomy??

I only know one and it was 10 years post-vasectomy. When my DH had his, we were warmed because I was fairly young that there was a chance that it could reverse itself while I was still fertile. It's been 5 years and so far so good, but I've often wondered about sending him back for another "check up" just to make sure LOL!

DH and I have been talking about this very thing. Should he go or should I have the essure? Leaning towards him going, I have carried, given birth to and nursed 5 kids, he can have a little snip. But given how easily we have gotten pregnant in the past, I'm a little worried, now especially. Our last 3 were suprises. Yeah, I know that is a lot of suprises, but apparantly we're slow learners.

I know a few people... and every single one of them didn't go back for the required two all clear tests. IMO, that's not a surgical failure, that's user failure. And I do know one person who had to have a second procedure because after several checks, he never got the all clear.

It's very worth it to ask the doctor about which procedures he uses to perform the vasectomy. Some doctors just snip, some doctors just clip, and some doctors just cauterize. Some doctors snip, clip, and cauterize. Personally, we went with the doctors who did every possible thing they could do in there. :rotfl:

WOW! My husband just told me the other day that he only wanted 1 more and then he would take the plunge. Now I'm worried that maybe we should both take the plunge!:rotfl:

I have a girlfirend who had hers done after her 15 yr old. Needless to say she has a 12 yr old also. Not all male or female procedures are 100%. But most are effective, I just pray DH's is effective (he had all three in his procedure also).

I totally see what your saying, however I'm just stating a fact...they could be sued. I'm not saying its right on any level. Although, I will say that my DH had a vasectomy 40 years ago. I'm still very capable of getting pregnant if he had viable swimmers...if I did though, I'd be mighty upset at this stage of my life. Would I sue? No, but I don't think everyone feels that way.

As an attorney, I am aware that its a *fact* that anyone *can* sue for anything....whether or not it is sound legal theory, or even a good idea based on *other* considerations is a whole different issue. :goodvibes

The whole concept of "negligence" is more complex than it appears...hence why you spend weeks on it in law school. Merely coming up pregnant after a vasectomy would be hard to sell as "negligence," particularly when the docs inform patients that the procedure is not 100% effective for all patients.

Sadly, in our society there are not mistakes or accidents anymore...far too many upsets tend to lead to a law suit, or at least a pondering about whether there is one available.

It does happen occasionally. They're not 100% effective. That's my husband and I both had the sterilization surgery. (For sure, for sure.)

I worked with a woman that got pregnant after her husband's vasectomy.

He accused her of cheating, but when he was tested it turned out that he had some swimmers after all. It was his baby. She insisted on a DNA test after the baby was born.

It took a long time for the husband/father to live that one down. She was royally pissed at him.

I told them to cut it and burn it! No tie thing please.
Sounds harsh but we were DONE and wanted to keep it that way.

ps. I was 27 and he was 32. Doc concerned that we were young.
Again, we insisted and have NEVER regreted it. We have 2 great boys. I'm so glad we had babies when we were young and nieve.:rotfl2::lmao:
I do know of a few that had opps...babies afterwards though.

i had a friend whos husband got it done..
5 years later she got pregnant..
he assumed she cheated on her and physically harmed her..
she lost her baby and got a divorce. neer looked back!

u could always use my birthcontrol method..
which is prayers..
oh lord please dont let me get pregnant..
if im not pregnant will go to church every 5th sunday LOL
im kidding of course!!

My husband's surgery is holding well. 2 years ago my sister called and told me she was pregnant. The first thing I thought of was 3 was enough for me. (Twins and then an extra blessing.) I sent him 5 years post surgery and he was fine, or was told "You are completely useless to women." :rotfl2: He had his through the military.
