I'm looking at staying in a preferred site with a 33ft trailer - 3 slide outs, 1 awning. Here is the trailer I'm thinking of renting http://www.greenbergrvflorida.com/trailer-rental/belvedere-2013-kz-sportsmen-331-bh/

What size of tent could we fit on there also? I understand there won't be a sand pad but that won't be a big deal. My husband would like to at least be able to fit a 2 person tent for him and our son (a tent big enough for a queen blow up mattress, wouldn't need anything else in there)

We've only stayed at the Fort once before in the 2000 loop. I wasn't expecting to return again so soon. I'm so excited! :goodvibes

OnlyDisney,

There are all sizes of sand pads on a Preferred plus some sites are longer than others. What you should do is add a note to your Disney reservation (when you know the details) specifying the length of trailer and also size of the tent. Those notes/requests get passed down to the Cast Member who pre-assigns sites and if they have that info they usually will accommodate. As long as your tent is not super-huge, you should be okay (one that takes a queen blow-up mattress should be fine).

In your case, one thing I would also do is email Greenberg (or whoever is your provider-tell them when making the reservation but also put it in writing in case they don't do it, you can say, "I told you so now get out here and move the unit") and tell them to leave the sand pad clear for a tent when they back the rental unit in because you have a tent coming with you. Reference your reservation number, etc. for them to do that since they might use up part of the sand pad with the trailer to leave you the most wide open paved space they can for parking a vehicle, golf cart, or other things.

So let Disney know about both the trailer and the tent and let Greenberg know about the tent. I hope things work out for you. I think your son would feel like it's cool to tent-camp at the Fort. :thumbsup2

PS - Preferred sites have the sand pads. It's the Premiums that don't. You can try to tent camp next to a Premium on the ground but you may have trees, bushes, etc so no guarantees that a tent will work on every Premium site. You could set it up on the concrete but of course you wouldn't be able to stake it down.

I would think the trailer would take up much of the paved area. The Preferred sites are smaller overall than the Premium sites. Depending on the site, you might be able to get a tent behind the trailer. A small 2 man tent might have fit behind our site. Below are 2 pics from one of our stays in the 100 loop (our favorite). From the post, this was site 102.This is our 31 ft bunk house trailer. It actually extended off the end of the pavement a few feet. As you can see, the truck and trailer just fit and the sites aren't wide enough for slides AND a tent next to the trailer.

We rented from Greenberg in July/August, instead of driving down our 5th wheel for the 3rd time in one year. Yes, we were lucky. Anyhow, the only issue with what others have commented is the length of the electrical cord to reach the pedestal. We had a premium site in loop 1300. Loved the size, however, the pedestal was in the middle, therefore, could only back it up so far. There was certainly room in the back of the Belvedere, as well as the front to put a tent. Also, the 1300 has some of the largest sites. The 1100 loop also has nice roomy sites. We took our vehicle to the overflow lot. We liked our selection, and Greenberg, but we missed our camper! Good luck on your site selection. Enjoy.

We are thinking of rentingfrom Greenberg as well (time is limited and drive is long from CT) Good to know we aren't the only crazy ones who own a camper then rent one! :)

Thank you everyone!

Seeing the pictures made me think of another question. Do you think there would be enough room in a preferred site (loops 100-300) to have a small tent, 33ft trailer, and our car? Maybe parking the car crossways right at the end of the pad?

When we stayed at the Fort this past Jan we rented from Fort Camper Rental. They were wonderful, and the price was fantastic. We just found out on that trip that we needed more space!

Yes, highwayg, our drive was from Wisconsin, and twice pulled our 5th wheel, but decided that since the beginning of trip was myself, our daughter and two grandsons, we would not be adventurous. Our first five days were at the BC, then transferred to the Fort. Grandpa (my husband) and our daughter's husband then flew down for the last seven days, and then papa and I drove back, DD, SNL, and grandsons flew home. It was clean, well furnished, worked, was very humid and hot, as expected, but missed our camper. For the extra price, personally, I would go premium, knowing you have a tent to place as well.

If you have a small car, maybe. You can see in my pics that the drives aren't very wide. One of the challenges in the Preferred sites is navigating the loop because people do park sideways at the end of the site and extend into the road. We had to have someone move their truck one trip because I literally couldn't get around a corner in the loop with the trees, trash containers AND his truck sitting sideways at the end of his site sticking half into the road.

We'd only park sideways if we could be off the road all the way; don't worry, we wouldn't be one of THOSE people :goodvibes
