OK, We are going to BWV next June, and am taking friends along. I am going to TRY to get 3 standard view studios for 1 week. What are my chances? CRO says to call every day to get these rooms. Is that true? If so, my option is to get 2 pref. views and 1 standard view. I guess we would draw straws to see who gets the standard view. Anyone with any insight to this?
Thanks in advance!

Going to BWV June 2003!:)

We've only stayed in the stardard view room, facing the entrance of BWV by the valet area. Oh, that was a 1BR as well. I'm sure it must be nice to face the boardwalk area; it kind of had a "hotel" feel to it where we were.

Not really. We stayed at one, which faces the pool, in one of the corner window. It's not worth it. Not a good view, and it's noisy. Preferred 1-bedroom or 2-bedroom are much better.

I assume you are getting a studio and want to know if the PV vs the SV are worth it.........if you can get a boardwalk view then definitely YES! A pool view is also very nice but IMHO not as nice as a boardwalk view. If a boardwalk view or pool view is not that important to you AND you do not mind about a 4-6 min walk from the elevators, I would go with a SV but request a room near the tennis courts. It WILL be one of the farthest rooms from the elevator but the room which will require a 4-6 min walk will have a view of the wateray that goes to MGM, Fantasmic fireworks, Illuminations, you will be able to hear all of Fantasmic, there will be ducks, rabbits and birds all around and you will be very close and 1/4 of the way to MGM if you decide to walk. When we do not get a PV and go for less points with a SV, I always request this location and have always gotten it because to many people a 4-6 minute walk to their room is too much!

Keep in mind that that "long" 4-6 minute walk (which everyone exaggerates because it's really no more than 90 seconds) puts you closer to another exit door that is close to the bus stop. If you use the busses often (i.e., you visit MK often) and/or if you like the quiet pool and Community Hall, then these "far from the elevator" rooms are great.

Pete W,
You must be a really fast walker--90 seconds! We stay in these rooms all the time and it definitely takes us longer than that to get from the lobby to our villa. I did allow for a generous amount of time with the 4-6 min estimate but that is so no one jumps all over me for not stating the true facts regarding the looooooong hallways at BWV! We love these rooms and they are very convenient for taking the stairs to the walkway to MGM.

We stayed in just one of those rooms last year at BWV. We stayed in a standard studio room. The very LAST room before the stairs down to the MGM walkway. HOWEVER, we did get a "preferred" view of the community pool and of the Swan/Dolphin waterway. So, it IS a long walk, but I need to lose weight anyway, so what is another 75-100 yard walk? What is the big deal on this anyway??? So, it is not a bad room, and it was easy to get to MGM, just down a flight of steps, out the door, and you are 1\3 of the way there. I just would like to see if the PV rooms are worth it, and I would like to have a boardwalk view this time. How close can I get a studio PV and SV together? Are they together, I mean across the hall or something? One side BW view, the other side Street view?
Anyone know this answer?

Thanks for all the input so far....

Yes, standard-view and preferred-view are typically across the hall from each other. For example, 3121 is the last sv before the "corner" of BWV and it faces the bus stop, so the room across the hall (don't know the room #) would be a pv overlooking the quiet pool.

We stayed in 3111 (if I'm remembering correctly) which was a standard view. We loved it! Our view was of the entrance, the inns, and a pond off to the side. At night we could watch the upper Illuminations fireworks above the inn. We were not close to the road and enjoyed our view very much.

As someone say - if you could get the BW view yes it is worth it. I have had the BW view once in 6 times of trying always at the 11 month time - I have tried for studios or 1-bedroom. What do they constantly put me in - the main pool view - I HATE this view - so I am not using my points to get it - put me in standard.

be warned most of the preferred view is the main pool view - which I don't think should be a preferred view.

I think the quiet pool would be a nice view (if you can't have the BW view) - but I have given up on the preferred view (sure they are) for the time being.

I agree wiith spicycat - we usually try to get the standard view but for our October trip we ended up with preferred. MS asked "shall I request a Boardwalk view?" My reply was sure but before that make sure to request anything BUT a main pool view! She confided that this is not an uncommon request.
