Preferred & Standard

you know I really think that sometimes the controller just puts people in the wrong room....

I mean the description of standard view is parking lot or drive way....

the description of preferred is not parking lot or drive way....

yes that definitely includes the garbarge area and trees blocking the view... but it show not include the parking lot or drive way.

if I got that view with preferred (of course I won't if I can't get standard view I go with another resort - too many views of that stupid CLOWN)....I would call the front desk if they refused to move me, I would ask to speak to the manager, I would try to document all of these things - then I would send a MS an email when I returned - explaining what room I was given and why I was told that room was preferred.....when the view was standard....

When we had our view experience at BWV, I did call the front desk manager. Then I called MS, who in turn, put me on a 3-way call with BWV manager. Noone was budging. Both MS and the BWV manager insisted I had a preferred view. I did follow up with an email when I got home and got the same pat answer I had gotten on the 3-way call. I told them they needed to reconsider their preferred view categorization. I didn't even realize how close to standard view I was until I returned and posted here on the DIS. It was then I found out I was a mere 3-4 doors away from people who had standard view. Essentially we all had the same view ? I just felt I got nowhere with BWV/MS.

I think DVC kicks themselves over ever creating that SV category. It would probably be much more fair if the point difference were for the BW View rooms and the standard/preferred were all the same.

Personally, if I can get a SV, I'm booking it. If I can't get it, I'm booking BW View. If we have to take preferred view --- well, "you get what you get and you don't throw a fit." Some of the "preferred views" are darn lousy - but there are lousy views for the same number of points at BCV and VWL, too.
