Please forgive my ignorance, but I just signed up and am trying to find out what the benifit is of a preferred room at the resorts?.. specifically the Value resorts
The preferred rooms at a Value resort put you closer to the main building and food court. They are identical in size, and look exactly the same as a standard room. The location is the difference.

wonderful thank you! If you choose to not do the preferred room is the walk to the main area very far? is there a bus at each area or will we always need to walk to the main building for a bus? And slightly off topic but is one Value better than the others? we have 2 young boys.. 5 and 8
that is very reasurring! thank you! Pop is the one that has its own bus, correct? So transportation staying there would be less of a hassle/wait then at the All Star Resorts?

The only value I actively try to get preferred at, is Music because of the layout. At the others, I have found it really doesn't make a huge difference either way.
When my kids were that age, they loved Movies and we also love Pop. I know that transportation can be a hot topic here, but I personally have never had an issue at any of the All-Stars or at Pop and don't take it into consideration when choosing which one to stay at. We like to choose our value resort based on the theme that best suits our particular group.

Not necessarily. I've stayed at various All Stars 4 times now, and each All Star resort has its own bus way more often than they share. And on the occasions that they do share, it takes maybe an additional 5 minutes for the buses to make the loop. The resorts are right next door to each other, it isn't much of a drive!
Keep in mind too that the Pop is way bigger than any individual All Star resort. Not only will you have more people trying to get on the buses, but you will have more people in all the public spaces jockeying for room--the pool, the food court, and check in.
The all stars each have one bus stop...right off the lobby. We stayed at Music and had a preferred room which we were glad we did as the resort is very large and the walk to the bus stop with small children would have taken awhile...
thank you all so much!! Im thinking if we go with a Value we maybe do one of the All Stars then. I like the theming/decor better than the pictures I've seen of Pop. And Ill see what my husband thinks for the preferred room or not.

You may want to take into consideration the typical weather for your trip. If you go during the middle of the summer when you almost melt or in the winter when it can get pretty cold, you may not want to spend any more time walking around outside then you have to.
