Is there any difference between a preferred room at CBR or a water view room?

I note that I can upgrade with Virgin to a water view room but with so much water at the resort I suppose this could still mean a certain remoteness from the centre.

Are you able to upgrade (if you feel the need ) direct with Disney either before or at check in? If so Any idea what the charge is?

Not too bothered about a water view room but may be prepared to shell out a little more to be closer to the centre.

On our first visit (off site) many years ago BC we were given a water view room for free. Problem was that it was an internal water view. We were woken at 3am with the delightful sight and sound of water pouring through our ceiling! Kids in an upstairs room had left the bath running

There is a definite difference between water views and preferred rooms at CBR (though you could end up with a room that is "preferred" and has a water view as well ;)

The preferred rooms are those located in particular areas of the resort, namely Martinique (and maybe one other??) which are located close to the main pool, dining areas & central shopping / entertainment areas. You may or may not have a water view (which could be a view of the lake or equally a view of a pool - or both).

If you book a water view only you could be anywhere in the resort but you will see be able to see water from your room location.

This is my personal view only, but I'm not sure that there is a huge benefit (for me and my family anyway) in the water views at the Moderates and value resorts. Because you don't have a balcony, you may not be that likely to be outside admiring the view from the external corridors. I have heard that some people take deckchairs to sit outside their room and admire the view but must admit I've never seen this happen. There might be people walking past you to get to their rooms too.

In a resort the size of CBR I would definitely consider paying extra for a preferred location though :thumbsup2

You can upgrade on arrival with Disney but that is subject to availability. I'm not sure of the price - how much are Virgin charging extra? I have a feeling it may be $15 per room per night with Disney direct, but this will vary according to what season you are travelling in.

As I understand it, 'Preferred' refers to the location (i.e. closer to the amenities).
