Preferred Rm ??

Are preferred rooms the same as requesting a room? For ex: we are staying @ Pop Century if I would like to request to stay in the 80's building does that mean I should have paid for a preferred rm?

Prefered rooms are not the same as requesting a room. Prefered rooms cost a little more because of their location....they are closer to the main building and other services. Requesting a room is free (but not guarenteed). At Pop you would only need to pay for a prefered if you wanted to close to the main building. IMO- Pop is not that large and a prefered room is nice but not necessary.

We were at ASMo and requested a 101 Dalamtions room. (we had only paid for standard, I am pretty sure that 101 Dalamations is std.) Anyway, they put is in the first building, in the first room on the first floor closest to the main building. It was awesome!! We were literally steps away from everything!!

All we did was fax a request about 3 weeks before the trip. I made it fun and colorful (even though it was faxed) but it worked and we will do it again. It basically said that DD wanted to stay with the Puppies and we had no idea of the buildings, etc, so we did not get any more specific than that.

My only fear is that we were so spoiled last year, I hope we get a room that great again this year. Being on the first floor was awesome because we could easily wheel the stroller in, did not have to lug it around, etc.

We're going to ASMO for the first time in August. We had to get a preferred room as it was all that was left for the free dining plan package. I'm trying to find out what buildings that includes and can't seem to get a straight answer. WDW's site says Fantasia, 101 and Toy Story but I talked to a rep that said it was only Fantasia. We really want 101 or Toy Story so I'm hoping they are preferred. Any advice, tips or help you can offer on ASMO would be great!

we paid for a preferred room hoping we'd get the 60's section at ground floor around pool - or anywhere in 60's for that matter and we didn't. We weren't too far away in the 50's section but wouldn't have paid for preferred room if I had known that is where we'd end up at.

80's is not preferred at POP so you did the right thing. Now that doesn't mean that if you request 80s you'll get it (they never guarantee requests) but have them add it to your ressie that you are requesting the 80s.
