preferred POP over POFQ

hey everybody.
i just got back from a split stay. this was our first time on-site and we decided to try out POFQ as well as POP.
i have to say i was much more impressed by POP.
firstly, the rooms are much nicer (thank god POFQ is getting an update, and too bad we didn't get one of the refurbished rooms...).
secondly, the buses were WAY more reliable at POP. we never waited more than five minutes for a bus (at POFQ we never waited under 15, and always had to stop at POR on our way to the parks).
thirdly, i actually found the cast members at POP to be much better at their jobs and more interested in trying to make our stay more enjoyable. when we got to POFQ, we didn't get so much as a "welcome"; we were just handed our room keys and a folder and shown our room on a map (we also didn't get either of our room requests, but i didn't really expect that...). we also had an issue with bell services at POFQ.

i don't mean to just list all my complaints...really, what i'm trying to say is that POP really surprised me with how great it was!

for anyone debating over value vs. moderate: next time we go, i won't think twice about staying at POP, but i might hesitate to stay at POFQ again, unless there was some kind of great deal.

...just my two cents...;)

DS & I have stayed at pretty much every value and mod, and once we stayed at Pop that was it. :cloud9: If they ever tried to give me an "upgrade" to a different resort, I would turn them down, except *maybe* if it was for WL. Otherwise, I'll stick with Pop, thanks. :goodvibes

There is an energy there, a feeling, that I haven't found anywhere else... and the CM's are always SO nice. Plus, it is both fun and colorful, and really lush and pretty, especially around the lake.

Gotta have my Pop!! :thumbsup2 Glad you had a good time, OP!

I've had the reverse happen to me. Pop is on my 'never again' list. I waited for a bus for 45 min one night at the resort to get to DHS. Food court was LOUD and so were the neighbors.

You got quite lucky with such short bus wait times at the Pop. Disney strives to send a bus by every 20 minutes, so the 15 minute wait for a bus at POFQ is perfectly acceptble by Disney standards. It may depend on the time of year, but my last 2 stays at POFQ we never shared a bus with POR. That was terrific!

I too, love POP! We have stayed there 4 times, most recently in Sept for 5 nights before moving over to Kidani for 4 nights. We love everything about POP, but it was a little noisy at night and early in the morning, and our room wasnt facing the pool. We were ok with it though, but after moving to Kidani and never hearing another soul while we were in the room, my husband doesnt really want to go back to POP. But it is a fun resort, and of course we expect a large difference between a value and a deluxe, with the $$$ difference alone. Now I am on a try different resorts kick so for next fall we have planned a split between BCV and CSR. Cant wait to try both!

:dance3: I'm so happy to hear about your experiences at POP. We have stayed at POFQ and liked it there very much so I am encouraged that we will also like POP.

Thanks for sharing!

We were just at POFQ Dec 11-17. We were lucky and got a refurb room ( I had put the request in as soon as I heard they were working on building 7). We did not have any bus issues at all. We never waited more than 10 mins max (and this was only 1 time for a MK bus). We stopped at POR 2 times - both times on the return trip but never on our way to the parks.

I did find the front desk to be not super friendly but just ok. The food court was a real pain bc it was sooooo slow - even without a bunch of people - cannot imagine eating there when its busy.

We stayed at POP in Dec 2009 ( :lovestruc Love it and had no complaints) and DD wants to go back to POP next year instead of POFQ.

Our stay at POFQ was so much different than yours. We had very good experiences with many cast members trying to make our stay special. Our bus time waits were never more than 10 minutes - usually less than 5 minutes & only 1 time in 7 days did we have to go to POR. Several bus trips it was our family of 5 & maybe 1 other family on the bus!! Sorry to hear your POFQ stay was not magical!

You do realize this is an old thread from almost two years ago?:rotfl::rotfl: The rooms at POFQ have since been completely refurbed. I agree with you though about preferring POFQ to Pop though.

It seems as if Pop has a big following on here, one day I must see what all the rage is about :rotfl:(life goal to try and stay at every resort)

I was just thinking the same thing, boy is this an old thread. And the new rooms are beautiful. I'd pick pofq over pop any day. :goodvibes

We stayed at both last year and we much preferred POFQ to POP. We felt that POP felt a bit stark. POFQ felt luxurious in comparison after two nights in POP.
