Preferred Parking?

I know when I went to Disney 5 or 6 years ago we had special preferred parking through AAA. I know that that does not exist anymore but I see that people can purchase preferred parking or standard parking - is the preferred parking where the AAA use to be? If I'm staying at a resort, how do I upgrade from the standard parking to the preferred parking?

Actually, MK preferred parking is where the overflow disability parking used to be, mostly closer to the monorail than AAA parking was.

AK expanded the disability lot into the old AAA parking, so the preferred parking is slightly farther.

Not sure about Epcot & DHS.
