Preferred Parking Worth the Upgrade?

We will be staying at a Disney resort - how much of a benefit is the upgrade to preferred parking? Way back in the day we used the AAA parking, is this the same area? Is it worth the extra cost - especially right now with less cars in the parking lot?

No, with the fewer cars currently in the lot it is not worth it imo.

Worth it? Depends.

If you’re going to the parks at rope drop, likely unnecessary and won’t save you much distance. It might be useful arriving later. They’ve been directing cars to skip a space So even tho capacity is less the rows get filled quicker this way. Also the trams aren’t running so if you come late on a busy day it could be a hike to the front gate.

One good thing is it works for the day. If you’re park hopping or returning, just show the receipt.

The “worth it” is difficult since it’s relative. We are not a rope drop family (adults and older teens) so we likely roll in to the parks around 10:30-11. If it was $5-10 upgrade I’d just do it, but $20+ is a lot per day - I cant recall, but is it THAT much closer? And are some parks better to use it than others?

We always rope drop and park right next to preferred parking so it wouldn’t be worth it to us. Maybe if you are arriving 3-4 hours after park opening and it’s hot.

If I used preferred parking, it would be at MK, where the walk to the TTC can be quite a distance if it’s a busy day and the parking lot is very full. But we’re older. With a party of adults and older teens, it’s probably not as important. Oh, and when staying onsite, MK is the one park we do not drive to, because of having to cross the lagoon to get to the actual park entrance! Taking the bus is much better!
