Preferred Parade Seating Question

We have one preferred parade seating with our package. Can anyone tell me your experience with this at 1) Disneyland and 2) California Adventure. Where are the preferred seating areas and are they good locations? Would one be better than the other? Just curious how I should try to use these.

I had a preferred seating for the ELP at DCA. We were at the end of the parade route to the left of Sunshine plaze (facing away from the entrance). It was nice. I've sat on benches near Wine Country Trattoria that were every bit as good, I just had to stake them out a bit earlier.

I also had a preferred seating for the holiday parade at DL as part of the holiday tour. It was at the end of the parade route. Our seats faced Small World. It was very pleasant there during the holiday. I don't know if that is where the preferred seating always is though.

We had preferred seating for the Disneyland parade in June and it was across from It's A Small World. They have folding chairs for you to sit on. You check in with the CM and then go ride It's A Small World or do something in the area and then come back just before parade time to a reserved seat. It is at the beginning of the first parade and at the end of the 2nd parade of the day (remember they reverse directions) and no one in front of you.
