Looking for a preferred loop for our August trip. As you may know we are using TinaH's 32 foot 5th wheel(awning and two slides):yay: ..plus our own vehicle(not sure if it will be a rental or if we will drive down with our truck). While biking through the fort last May we took some photos of sites we liked...thinking we'd be bring our own RV at some point. Now that we know about Tina's rental..no towing for hubby and FW for me!;) In any case, we wanted a preferred (gotta have the cable!) non pet loop. Initially we liked the 300 loop, but know it's a dog loop..and from what I'm reading..is there a new dog run close by?
I'm also concerned that being near a dog run in August heat well..you get the idea. Now, before anyone gets the wrong idea...I LOVE DOGS! Have one of my own. Only we aren't traveling with him, and while I don't have an issue with being in a pet loop, I'm disturbed by the posts I've read about the mess that folks are leaving behind. If I can avoid it..I'd certainly like to.

We have a photo of site 528..and think that looks good and we'd like to request that loop, also have some photos of the 600 and 700 loops that appeal to us. I have checked out the site photos that many of you have left, but they don't really indicate if they are preferred or pet or non pet loops. I tried to do a search..but not sure if it's my computer or what,:confused3 but it never brings anything up..just keeps on searching..funny thing..the search ..it's a dog!
I realize sites are a personal thing..and everyone likes something different. I'm just looking for what are the preferred non pet loops. I know that nothing is guaranteed. Just looking for some feed back. Anyone actually get into the 100 or 200 loops? 200 seems fine, but I wonder is it very busy being so close to the marina areas? Would be nice to be able to stroll down to the beach watch the Electric Water Pagent in the evenings. Thanks guys...appreciate the help.:thumbsup2

1400 loop is a preferred non-pet loop and while it may not be near the marina, it is very close to the Meadows area, my family loves it there and we request it for every stay now.

When I was there last week, loop 800 is a preferred pet loop. If I have time on the next pick-up, I will check the 500-700 loops for you. I cant promise because I have to work that night as well..

Not sure about 400 but 500 and 700 are sometimes used as Pet overflow. I can positively say 800 is a good location but has pets.

Tina:cutie: ...I'm sure you'd know better than anyone where your unit will fit best!:thumbsup2 I was actually going to PM you about this.
Very nice of you..but please I don't want you to go out of your way...we saw the loops last trip..and liked them both. We did actually take photos of sites we liked, and I'm fairly certain the 500, 600,or 700 have sites that are pretty long and would accomodate your RV. I thought with the wealth of knowledge here on the board, someone would know for sure which preferred loops are for pets and which aren't. Seems even the ones that aren't are "pet over flow".:confused3

I know we have plenty of time to figure it out, August is quite a ways off!
It's cold (freezing cold) here in NY...can't help myself from thinking about the warm summer months!

They for some reason let dogs in the 1400 loop quite often now. We had 1415during Thanksgiving weekend and had a nice yelper the whole time. I'm hoping FW doesn't put dogs in every loop. I know a lot of you bring your dogs to the fort and that's great but I don't and I don't like hearing dogs bark and smelling dog doo during my trip. I thought that's why they had pet and non pet loops.

I think last week someone posed a thread that all loops were going to be pet loops. I hope not. I will see if I can find it.

We stay in the 200 loop all the time its not busy. 100 gets quite a bit of foot traffic through it do to a cut through to the marina. But its still ok

Is it a preferred loop? Cable..? what about the pets? I believe I saw some pretty big motor homes on sites in the 200 loop. Appeared nicely shaded too.

It has always been a no pet loop. It is preferred with cable.

I'm sorry to hear that, we liked 1400. And I'll freely admit that I don't like dogs much. I'm allergic to a lot of them, and the noise is annoying. I'm not against pet owners, but it's nice to have the dogs in one place and myself in another. :)

Thank you..:thumbsup2 just what I was looking for.! Boy...it does appear however, from what some have posted here that FW isn't always sticking to the loop designations you've indicated. Perhaps some pet owners are just sneaking their dogs into the non-pet loops:confused3 Sure hope we don't run into that.

Much as I love my dog,:lovestruc I don't have plans to travel with him to FW, and if at all possible would like to avoid a pet loop.

FW rules are that if all pet sites are full, they can send guests into non pet loops. I have called the Outpost at times when there were dogs in non pet designated loops and was asked the site number and security did come and make them move. Some people do try to not pay the $5.00/day charge.

Just left FW - 1400 loop- there were lots of dogs. We stayed there 2 other times in the last 12 months and did not notice dogs. The new dog yard is very close so maybe they have made it a pet loop?

Okay...I'm confused for some reason I thought the new dog run was closer to the 300 loop?....:confused3

Thats what I have been reading and I have seen the pictures. It is near the 300 Loop playground.

The new dog run is next to the 300 loop. It is on the far side of the open field next to the bus stop/playground. This is just a short walk from the 1400 loop. Even though it is 1400 it is close to the 300 loop.

They were working on the dog area last week when we were there. They added a small pen in the entrance area so dogs could not escape when the gate is open. In other words there are 2 gates to enter. Enter one, then get in the pen area, then enter another gate to get into the large space. They also added several benches and a trash can.
