Anyone know where you meet to line up for the later show? We did the first show a couple of weeks ago. My mom and aunt are going next week and got PS at Ariels for the later show and wondering if anyone has any experience with this?

Also, did I read that when the picnics are sold out online they sometimes open up some for sale the day of? Where would you purchase these?

THANKS!

Purchase same day picnic the same place where you pick them up, assuming they have any left. If you are facing the Wine Country Trattoria the Blue Sky Cellar will be to the right and the Picnic pickup/sale will be to the left.

I went in the afternoon (3:30ish) on Aug 7th and they had 70 left for the 10:15 show (I think 9 was sold out). If you know the day you are going it is probably safer to buy them online.

They are not showing available online, so we are assuming they are sold out, but I didn't know if they kept some aside for sale the day of?

I'm not sure about that. I bought them on a whim because we had one person arrive later in the day, after we have FPs.

Anyone know regarding WHERE to line up for the later show? Where do you meet your preferred dining group to walk in after the early show??

For the Preferred Dining section for the 10:15pm show, you should line up at the WOC queue area that's across from WCT.

Hopefully someone will verify this. :wizard:

If your Fastpass is for the 10:15pm performance…
Your Fastpass will tell you to return to a specific area between 9:15pm and 9:45pm depending on your viewing area.

RED-Return to the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail
YELLOW-Return to the Grizzly River Run World of Color Queue
BLUE-Return to the World of Color Queue in front of the Wine Country Trattoria
PREFERRED DINING-Return to the World of Color Queue area across from the Wine Country Trattoria

A few weeks ago went we went, Preferred Dining was instructed to line up 9:30-9:45. The line started on the GRR trail at the corner across from the new restrooms near TLM and went back towards the churro cart. Hope that horrible description helps.

We have just returned, and my recommendation would be to try to go to the 9:00 show at all costs. The line-forming routine varies from night to night, so no one is allowed to line up earlier than about 7:00. We just lingered in the general vicinity until we saw action happening and then made sure we were close to where they were setting up the purple barriers. That's where they start the "line." (picture more like a rope drop mob) At any rate, the process of getting in from that point was fairly painless, and we were allowed to sit while we waited for the pre-show to begin. Also, the sky was free of mist and smoke when our show started.

If you go to a later show, the line barriers are already in place from the first show so people get in line and the lines were MASSIVE by the time innocent people following the directions on their fastpasses arrived. I'm talking from the area near the new Little Mermaid ride construction almost all the way down to the main plaza area where the big sun thingy is. :scared1:

We ordered the picnics. Food was fine and you get a lot for the money in Disney-economy. You even get a nice reusable bag for each dinner purchased. We didn't pick ours up until around 6 (we'd ordered ahead online) and still got a blue Fastpass, which was what we wanted.

By the way, the show is SPECTACULAR! I've never seen anything quite like it, and it was well worth the hassle-factor!

We just did the Ariel's dinner for the second show and it was mass confusion.
The dinner was great--I would do the dinner again. I just wouldn't do the show again. Actually, I would watch the show from the bar upstairs above the Ariel's Grotto dining room.

To answer your question, the server and the fastpass tell you to line up near the Redwood Creek Challenge. But there are so many lines and so many different cast members telling you different things that it just isn't worth going over there. All you really have to do is go when all the other lines start moving and find the entrance to preferred dining. It wasn't even half full. We stood at the back of the half-full crowd for about 15 minutes and the show started. If you are a short adult or if you are a small child you won't be able to see much no matter what.

I haven't been to DCA before and haven't been to Disneyland since I was 8--the World of Color show was good but not great. I have no desire to see it again. In fact, I would have rather either gone home earlier or rode another ride rather than see the show--and that's from a person who loves Disney parks and loved watching the show on You Tube before I went.
It is the first thing I have seen at a Disney park that was better on video than it was in person.
