hello all!
I was just wondering if anyone had any predictions on how crowded it will be. I ask this because I am still debating on whether or not we should leave the park midday for a little break at the POR and still be able to make it back for our PS's...that is, if we can get back in. We won't be doing this for sure on NYE for I fear the early closing of admissions into the MK..even for resort dwellers. Any comments or forsight?

about not letting people in. would they let you back in with a hand stamp? i wasn't planning to go to the MK till around 8. i may have to rethink that.
as far as crowds, i have heard that that time of year is the most crowded.

I would say a handstamp is definitely NOT a guarantee. They count capacity of the park based on turnstile numbers, and when you exit the park, one guest is removed from the total "in park" count. SO, even if you have a handstamp, another guest has theoretically entered the park in your place, and thus driven the park closer to capacity.

Take care,
Jay

I would never leave MK on NYE day other days you may be okay but not that one. Do you mean 8pm loyd? Forget it it is the first park to suspend entry on NYE

You should be okay coming and going most days if you use Disney transportation. Don't leave the park NYE unless you ask what the odds are you'll get back in. MK would be especially hard to get back into.

I read a trip report somewhere...can't remember where...from last year where the person writing it had a member of their group leave the MK to go back to the car and get something and was not allowed back in! He had been gone only long enough to walk to the car and back. He was told that the decision as to IF and when they would allow anyone in again had nothing to do with hard numbers but rather the decision of upper level park management. Meaning just b/c one person left after they close to incoming guests doesn't mean one more can come in. My husband is very quick to caution me that "you can't believe everything you read in a trip report!" but I'd play it safe and ask a cm what the official policy is before you head back out.

Our party of 6 won't be taking up space in the MK for anyone! With little ones, we'll be at the AK all day, then have PSs for the Cape May buffet timed to start after Illuminations ends. We'll watch from the boardwalk then wander over to the BC for dinner before heading back for nite-nite time. DH and I may try to head back to a park if one of them is still open after the kids are asleep (and with Grammy and Poppy) but if we can't, we'll survive and we'll just be up that much earlier on 1/1!

See you at AK! We're having burritos and popcorn back at
our suite for NYE! Watching the ball drop on TV just like at
home....well not "Just like"!
OR-we may try Quest that day. Seems like everyone will be
trying to squeeze into the parks. Good luck everyone and
Happy New Year!

The park capacity rule has to do with the fire marshall. Once they get to a certain point it becomes a safety issue. CM management is given a little latitude but not much. Disney puts safety as their number one issue in all things, even above Gst service.

As per leaving and returning or entry into the park in the evening on NYE or Xmas Day. I would not recommend either of these. At MK specifically your chances are extremely minimal that you would be able to do either of these scenerios. Having a handstamp, or a PS does not guarantee you entry on those days either. MK is usually the first to fill, in the past it was around 10am.

I have seen this many times as a cm and as a guest visiting the park on those days. We tried one year to get into EC on NYE at 4pm and could not get in.

The best advice is to go early and stay.
