We are finally returning to the World 12/29/21 through 1/7/22. I know it will be super crowded, but with one kid in college and the other in law school, it is the only time we could vacation together! We're DVC members, so no pressure to do it all. I would really love to plan some special experiences - like tours and excursions - but most of them are not operating due to Covid. What are the chances some will make a return in time for Christmas week? Pure speculation - I know - but fun to think about! We're celebrating a 21st birthday and a 30th anniversary, so we're hoping to make it an extra fun trip!

With rapidly falling infection rates and large numbers of vaccinations and natural immunity, I expect WDW will be back to normal for the 50th anniversary festivities starting in October. This will of course mean that everything will be open for the holidays as well.

Fingers crossed many special experiences will be back! We did Wild Africa Trek during Christmas week one year and it was amazing! A great way to see AK and avoid the park crowds for the most part. I know they are currently running the fishing trips from a few of the resorts and the archery experience at Ft. W if those hold any interest. Ft. W is so wonderful at Christmas time. With the archery experience and a visit to the stables (and maybe HDDR and an evening sleigh ride if they are back) - it could make for a great day!

We did the dessert party at Tomorrow Lands Terrace on NYE. It was great. I like being able to sit down, eat and still have an amazing view of the castle and fireworks. When leaving the park, it was the worst crowds I've ever seen. We were told that there were 80,000 in MK that night. I'm not sure if they will get to those numbers but it sure would be nice to see something like that return, safely, of course.

Great suggestions! Wild Africa Trek is one of the experiences we hope to do! Fingers crossed that it comes back in time. My husband and son would definitely enjoy the fishing. Never heard of the archery experience! I’ll have to look that up. Thanks so much!

The dessert party would be awesome, though we may avoid the parks entirely on NYE. Maybe we could do it another night. Assuming it returns, is that a 60 day in advance thing?

We did that in 2019 (ringing in 2020). Pre Covid. Reservations were 160 days out then. I would imagine when/if it returns it will be at least 60 days out. Perhaps by then, it will be further out. Things seem to be changing, sometimes every day. Who knows what it will be like. I did hear on a DFB video that Disney is looking to hire fireworks "people." So that may be a good sign.
