Prediction: DVC will not actively market 2057 OKW

It looks like Disney will have a "construction gap" on it's hands in late 2008. Some people are speculating that Disney is extending the OKW contracts to give them something to sell during that gap.

Just pure conjecture here, but I don't see that happening; the two events are unrelated. DVC is not going to be in the business of actively marketing OKW again. It's just too much trouble to set up new preview rooms and whatnot for the limited window DVD needs. Besides, Disney won't want to showcase a resort with a little wear and tear.

DVD will narrow the construction gap and find ways to get some Kidani rooms ready to sell quicker. Meanwhile, to the extent there is a gap and they need to have ROFRed/confiscated points to sell, they'll just use SSR points. All the selling infrastructure is in place.

I know a lot of smart DISers disagree. No way to know for sure - we'll just have to wait and see.

If any of the rumors are true, during that "construction gap" in 2008, sales of either CRV or DL-DVC (or both ) can certainly fill that space!

I disagree. I think this was the only reason for the extension. I agree that they won't build OKW models.

I think that they will show the SSR and AKL models, and then say "well, we are sold out of those points at the moment, but look, we have OKW points that you can buy, and at 7 months you can stay at any resort you like"

Effectively putting more emphasis on the DVC program, than a specific resort.

Other time share companies actively sell units at sold out resorts as well.
