Saw this movie last night. I was in tears during most of the movie.

Hard to believe that "parents" can actually treat their children like that.

If you go see Precious, be sure to take plenty of kleenex.

I had no idea Mo'Nique was such a great actress. Funny lady yes, but an actress wow.

I plan to see it! I saw a trailer and oh my gosh. It hooked me! Lots of emotion right off the bat. I hope it ends well. I was flipping through the channels last night and came across some show called tomatoes (?) and they did a segment on this movie. They gave this movie a really good rating. :thumbsup2

Just read that the movie grossed 1.8 million last weekend. Amazing for a movie that was only showing in 18 theatres.

I saw the review in People magazine and they gave it a great review. It looks incredibly sad. I read it was based off of a book called Push. Has anyone read it?

At first I didn't think I could see this movie, it's so sad. I've read a lot about it and now I'm really thinking about it though.

When I saw the trailer for this movie, I thought there's no way I can see it. Just from that little bit, I got so upset. I wanted to give her a hug so badly, I had to remind myself it's only a movie!

I am very, very rarely interested in seeing a movie - before it's available on cable - but this one does look interesting..

Does anyone know for sure if it's based on a book? If so, I would like to read the book first..

I had a chance to see this last Saturday at the SCAD Film Festival for free, and I declined. My DH went without me, and he said it was a good film, but sad.

It's based on the book Push by Sapphire and I'm pretty sure it's a pretty accurate translation, from everything I'd read.

Entertainment Weekly gave it a phenomenal review. Oprah and Tyler Perry were both involved in the distribution of it. I think it's going to be this year's Slumdog. It's supposed to be uplifting in a similar way, I believe.

Thanks! I always like to read the books first because so much is cut out for the movies..:goodvibes

WOW... that trailer was hard to watch! Looks like a really powerful film, I may have to see if it comes up here...

The movie looks so sad but I want to see it. I think from all the buzz surrounding it, it will be the big Oscar movie this year. I hope it comes to a theater near me. Better stock up on kleenex if it does.

I agree. I couldn't make it thru the trailer without tears. I don't think I can watch it in the theater.

I want to see it, but I know I will be in tears throughout most of it.

Sadly, there are kids who are treated like that. :sad1:
